Friends of PTARC ScholarshipPTHS Seniors

College scholarship offered to PTHS students who arechildren or relatives of Friends of PTARC or PTARCvolunteers or who have volunteered for these organizationsthemselves. This $500 scholarship award is based uponvolunteerism for Friends of PTARC or PTARC. Applicantsmust be seniors at Penn Trafford High School whosevolunteerism took place while he/she was in high schooland will attend a college or technical school upongraduation. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. Applicationsavailable at the PTHS Guidance office. Scholarshipawarded at PTHS Awards Night.

What Do We Do? The Penn Trafford Area RecreationCommission owns and operates the PTARC/ShelleyProskin Recreation Center in Level Green. Friends ofPTARC raises funds to maintain and rehabilitate thePTARC Shelley Proskin Recreation Center for ourresidents use and enjoyment.

How Can You Help? Friends of PTARC is askingcommunity-minded organizations and individuals todonate materials, labor, and/or time to assist in thecompletion of these facilities.

Why Should You Help? The PTARC Shelley ProskinRecreation Center provides:· A place for families to hold birthday parties, bridal andbaby showers, graduation parties and anniversarycelebrations.· A facility for parents and caregivers to take pre-school children for fun activities and early childhoodeducation· A place for after-school activities, homeworksupervision, club meetings, fitness and fun activities forschool-aged children· A facility for life-long learning, fitness and wellnessactivities for adults

How to RegisterNon-Resident Registration

Registrations from non-residents will be accepted. Non-Residents pay an additional $10 for trips and an additional20% for all other programs. Non-resident family passesare available: 3 registrations for $25, 6 registrations for$40 gives non-resident families the opportunity to registerat the resident fee. Good for 1 year for family membersresiding at the same address.

Refund PolicyFor programs scheduled to meet 3 or more times, a fullrefund less a $5 processing fee will be given if you cancelyour registration at least 24 hours before the first meeting.Registrations cancelled after the first meeting date will begiven a program voucher for days not attended less a $5processing fee. No refunds will be given after the secondmeeting date of any program. Program vouchers are nottransferable to another person. For classes scheduled tomeet less than 3 times, a full refund less a $5 processingfee will be made if the cancellation is received at least 1week before the first class meeting. For trips and tours, arefund, less a $5 processing fee and any trip fees, will bemade if the cancellation is received at least 3 weeksbefore the trip date.There is a $30 cancellation fee for facility rentals.

AttendanceAttend the first day of the program as scheduled. Youwill only be notified by PTARC if a program is filled,postponed, or canceled. PTARC cannot be responsiblefor the make-up of sessions missed for personal reasons.If you miss a session, you are advised to contact theinstructor about assignments or announcements. Aregistered participant cannot transfer his or her right toattend a program to another person.

Class CancellationsPrograms held in Penn-Trafford School Districtfacilities are cancelled whenever schools are closed.Schools are closed January 16, February 20, April 5-10,May 28 & May 29. PTARC reserves the right to cancel,postpone, or reschedule any program that does not meeta minimum number of class participants. Every effort willbe made to reschedule sessions missed for unanticipatedcancellations or postponements encountered during aprogram. Rescheduling is not guaranteed.

InsurancePTARC does not carry insurance to cover hospitalizationor the medical cost of persons injured during the courseof participation or spectating at any of PTARC’s programsor events.All participants enter programs at their own risk.

AccessibilityEvery effort will be made for people of all abilities toparticipate in PTARC programs. People with disabilitiesrequiring special accommodations, must contact theRecreation Office before the start of the program, so thatarrangements can be made for successful participation.

Financial AssistanceThe Penn Trafford Area Recreation Commission iscommitted to serving all residents of the Penn TraffordSchool District regardless of financial status.
