Basics.I’ve learnt how to import clips from the camera into final cut pro, so we are able to place them onto our timeline.

I’ve learnt when placing an effect or text down, there are categories at the top right, these are able to help change the font/size and/or enhance or change the effect when placed onto a clip.

This is our timeline, we are able to place clips as well as sounds and are able to layer them.

I’ve learnt that these are different categories such as, “Effects”, “Transitions”, “Sound” etc, these are where you can find different effects that you can place on any of your clips, or any sounds to help create diegetic or non-diegetic sounds, and transitions to put on clips to change it from one clip to another.

I’ve learnt that this shows the length of my opening sequence so it was handy when I had to keep the 2 minute limit.

Sound.I’ve learnt that this is where you scroll through to find different category of sound, this was handy when we had to find diegetic sound as it’d be under something like “Lifestyle”.

I’ve learnt that once choosing a category, it’ll show you a large section of music and sounds to help you add diegetic and non-diegetic sounds to your opening sequence. This was helpful for adding in little sounds we couldn’t find online.

I’ve learnt that you can search for specific sounds if you cannot find it by scrolling through, this was helpful when we got stuck trying to find certain sounds like “breathing”.

Transitions.

I’ve learnt that there are different categories in the transition section, such as blurs and dissolves, this would help if we did flashbacks however, we did not.

I’ve learnt that you can search for specific transitions if you cannot find it by scrolling through.

I’ve learnt that once choosing a category, it’ll show you a large section of transitions to help you add different types of transitions to your clips. Although we didn’t use any transitions in our opening sequence, I did use them in my Arlington road remake, and it was very helpful.

Effects.I’ve learnt that there’s different categories in the effects section, these can be for your clips and/or your audio, this is to help change how it looks/sounds. This was very useful for us as we used a lot of “cool tones” to help create the dark atmosphere.

After finding a specific category, it’ll show a large amount of different effect to place on your clips, and help enhance them, or distort them.
