We Got This: A “Together Poem”

WE GOT THIS!!!!!

Me and you. You and me. Getting through this all together.

We got this!!

Me and you. You and me. Remembering it’s not forever.

We got this!

Me and you. You and me. Hugging tight and holding close.

We got this!

Me and you. You and me. Finding help and having hope.

We got this.

Me and you. You and me. Remembering it’s not your fault.

We got this.

Me and you. You and me. Breathing deep and stretching tall.

We got this.

I’ll take care of you. Things will change, it’s true. It’s me and you, you and me. And...

Read this aloud!• Parents read the lines with the picture of the adult’s face. • Then, together, parents and children read the lines with the adult’s and child’s faces.

Home Is Where the Hugs Are! Children can color in Lily and her mom as you color the background. As you work together, you might:

• Ask, “How is Lily feeling in this picture? Why do you think she’s feeling that way?”

• Remind your child that home is not just a house or apartment—it’s wherever the love is. Together, you can get through anything.

• Take a break for a big hug!

• “What do you think Mama Bird and Baby Bird are saying to each other?”

• “Why do you think the birds look so happy?”

• “When was a time you felt like this? What could we do right now that would make us feel good?”
