Gylon®
Restructured reinforced PTFE
MATERIAL DESCRIPTION:
Gylon® is a well-proven PTFE material made according to a patented process, which restructures the material so as to keep compression and cold deformation properties to a minimum. This process makes Gylon® a far superior material compared to standard filled PTFE and expanded PTFE.
Several variants of Gylon® are manufactured, with different reinforcement types suitable for various areas of application.PROPERTIES:
All variants of Gylon® are characterised by very good chemical resistance and broad temperature range. Gylon® is mechanically stable, has minimal compression set and cold-flow properties and has very good sealing capability. These materials do not age and meet requirements as per FDA for use in food and pharmaceutical applications.
Gylon® also provides electrical insulation, which means that this material is very suitable for insulation of pipe system sections against creeping currents and static electricity.
GYLON® IS SUPPLIED IN THE FOLLOWING VARIANTS:
Gylon®Style3501E(brick-red): Universal gasket reinforced with silicon dioxide (SiO2), for the majority of media in the process industry. Also suitable for sulphuric acid applications.
Gylon®Style3504(lightblue): Soft, reinforced with microspheres of glass, suitable for weak and uneven flanges with low seating stresses.
Gylon®Style3510(off-white): Reinforced with barium sulphate (BaSO4). Particularly suitable for aggressive solutions, such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, hydrofluoric acid, electrolytic baths etc.
GROOVED GASKETS:
To achieve extremely high gas sealability values even in applications with low surface pressure, such as with enamel, glass, GRP and aluminium flanges, all Gylon® variants can be provided with sealing grooves according to a special manufacturing process. This process enables the gaskets to be equipped with a number of leakage barriers with intermediate high-density areas for optimal sealing performance even at very low surface pressures. Manufactured in dimensions according to EN 1514-1 IBC from DN 15-DN 250.
APPLICATIONS:
Gaskets for flanges, lids, covers, split casing flanges etc. in chemical, pharma-ceutical and food industries, where stringent demands are made of tightness, safety and cleanliness.
Gylon® Style 3501E and 3510 are also suitable for chlorine applications.

Ready-cut gaskets as per EN 1514-1 IBC of Gylon® Style 3501E in thickness 1.6 mm are normally kept in stock. We also manufacture finished gaskets according to customer´s specifications.

APPROVALS:
For special applications where extremely stringent demands are made, Gylon® materials have been subject to extensive tests as per the following:
BAM approval Gylon® Style 3501E, Style 3504 and Style 3510 are approved by the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) for use in applications handling oxygen and liquid oxygen.
TA-Luft certification. Gylon® Style 3501E, Style 3504 and Style 3510 has been tested by TÜV with regard to leakage levels. All three variants are below the limit in order to meet the requirements of TA-Luft 2002, i.e. ≤ 1.0 x 10-4 mbar • l/(s • m).
Food and Drug Administration (FDA),
USA. Gylon® Style 3501E, Style 3504 and Style 3510 meets all requirements as per FDA Regulation 21 CFR 177.1550 for use in food and pharmaceutical applications.
