Mindy McCready is the fifth person who has appeared on "Celebrity Re-hab with Dr. Drew" to die in the past two years.

The 37-year-old, who died of what's believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, is the third person from her season alone to die after ap-pearing on the VH1 reality series.

Prior to McCready's death, Joey

Kovar, a member of MTV's "Real World: Hollywood" died last August at the age of 29 of "opiate intoxica-tion." Kovar appeared alongside Mc-Cready on the show's third season in 2010.

Kovar's death was preceded by "Celebrity Rehab" Season 2 member Rodney King, who passed away in June 2012 at the age of 47.

En agosto del 2008 se informó que Justice había firmado un acu-erdo de talento con Nickelodeon. Se estrenó el 27 de marzo del 2010 con 5.7 millones de televidentes, convirtiéndose en el segundo es-treno de mayor sintonía para una serie de acción real en la historia de Nickelodeon, detrás del estreno ofi-cial de” Big Time Rush” en enero de ese mismo año. La serie duró tres años, pero fue cancelada en agosto

del 2012. Victoria también fue la estrella en la película para tele-visión “Boy Who Cried Werewolf”, interpretando a Jordania Sands, una chica que se transforma en un hombre lobo después de su trasla-do a una mansión espeluznante.

TVC: From what you set out to accom-plish this last term, what percentage would you say was actually accomplished?

AM: I would say about 80 to 90% of the proj-ects I brought forward were approved. I have wide support by the City Council. Ever since I joined the City Council, my objective has been to manage city affairs as any other business, creating a portfolio for our city that mirrors investment corporations. I’ve been very focused in economic development, job creation, and business improvement taking our little city to the finals of the All-American Award Criteria at a national level.

TVC: What would you say were some of the obstacles you encountered when try-ing to carry out some of the items on your agenda?

AM: I would say none; I don’t believe in obsta-cles. I’m very positive; I’m a doer, putting together the key components to move forward.

TVC: If you were to write a book about this last term as mayor, what would you title it?

AM: The title would be “Think Beyond the Limits”. The chapters would include: “Don’t Worry About What Lies in the Horizon”, “Create Your Own Destiny”, “The Opportunities Are End-less”, and so on. It would be written in a simple and straight-forward manner that even a child or a person with basic reading skills could understand.

TVC: Do you have a strategy to prepare you for the day’s events?

AM: Every morning when I wake up, I give thanks to our creator; I take 5-10 minutes to medi-tate and put everything behind me, because it’s a new day, a new hour, a new minute. Whatever happened before, is now gone. There’s nothing we can do, but look forward.

TVC: What are you currently doing or plan to do to improve public education in Huntington Park?

AM: Well, I’m a product of the public school system, and being a businessman and entrepre-neur, I feel that our public school curriculum should include entrepreneurships. Not everyone wants to go to college to be a professional, but any-

body, if given the opportunity, the tools, and the guidance can be an entrepreneur. Also, I would like to have the manufacturing industry form a co-alition with our public school system to determine what type of technical training would best prepare our students for the workforce after high school.

TVC: How will you go about educating the general public in Huntington Park about the immigration reform that is cur-rently taking place?

AM: I will resort to a tried and tested method, and that is our churches--all denominations. In the past, I have worked closely with churches in our community and have had a great deal of suc-cess in disseminating information and assisting residents in becoming U.S. citizens. The people trust their church and I would never allow unscru-pulous individuals to take advantage of vulnerable community members.

Las cadenas ABC y Univision presentaron “Fusion”, un nuevo ca-nal de televisión en inglés dirigido a la comunidad latina en Estados Unidos… y ya que Televisa tiene una participación accionaria impor-tante con la cadena hispana de tele-visión más importante en la unión americana -además de proveerla con más del 70% del contenido de programación-, sobra decir que el proyecto se realizará en conjunto con la televisora mexicana.

Hasta el momento cinco op-eradores de cable ya tomaron la decisión de incluir el nuevo canal dentro de su programación: Cox, Charter, Cablevision, AT&T U-verse y Google Fiber.

De acuerdo con lo difundido por ABC news, “Fusion” presentará programas en economía, música, política, salud, entretenimiento y más. La señal comenzará a ser transmitida a mediados del 2013 y se espera que impacte a 50 mil-

lones de hispanos.La noticia no cae de sorpresa,

ya que desde el mes pasado el presidente de Grupo Televisa, Emilio Azcárraga, dio a conocer las primeras noticias del proyecto con Univision para hacer un canal hablado en inglés, en una copro-ducción con la Cadena ABC News.

“Esta es gente joven, que nació en Estados Unidos, que fue al colegio en inglés, que sus amigos les hablan en inglés, fueron a la universidad en inglés… pero eso no significa que no tengan la conexión cultural con el tema latino”, dijo Isaac Lee, presi-dente de Univisión Noticias a The Associated Press.

“Les gusta la comida de la abuela, extrañan sus raíces, tienen familia en América Latina, les gusta (la revista) People y escuchan a la cantante Sha-kira. Hay una conciencia grande de ser latino… Vamos a tratar de hacer contenido dirigido a este grupo de-mográfico joven, fresco”, añadió.

El cantante, originario de Jalisco y padre del también cantante Ale-jandro Fernández, es considerado como uno de los iconos de la música mexicana con más de 45 años de trayectoria.

Fernández explicó que tomó la de-cisión "de manera definitiva" porque "un artista necesita retirarse con mucha dignidad", declaró en plena conferencia para anunciar su gira internacional.

Asimismo, destacó que "se necesi-ta valor" para dejar los escenarios antes de "causar lástima" y que su voz "pueda defraudar al público".

Tras anunciar con "toda la tristeza del mundo" que este año será el último en el que pise un escenario comentó que "es por amor y por res-peto al público y a mí mismo".

Adelantó que su último concierto internacional sería el 25 de noviem-bre de este año en Estados Unidos y confesó que le gustaría que "la despe-dida definitiva" sea en la Plaza Méxi-co, donde logró más éxito durante su carrera artística.

Fernández explicó que después de su retiro, se dedicará a disfrutar de sus hijos y nietos en su rancho a las afueras de Guadalajara.

Vicente Fernández nació en Huentitlán el Alto, Jalisco el 17 de febrero de 1940. Pero a los 20 años viajó a la Ciudad de México para buscar su sueño de ser cantante.

He is as dedicated as they come; not only to his acting career, but to writing and producing as well. Da-vid is originally from Rochester, NY and when asked what brought him to California, he is quick to say, “You have to go to where the opportuni-ties exist. If you want to be an actor and you want to work on stage, you move to New York City or Chicago, but if you want to work in television and film, you move to L.A.”

One of Bianchi’s latest projects includes his participation in the sup-porting cast of “Filly Brown”-- an in-dependent film directed by Youssef Delara and Michael Olmos, co-star-ring Gina Rodriguez, Edward James Olmos, Lou Diamond Phillips, and others. “Filly Brown”, which comes out in major theatres this month,

was filmed entirely in Los Angeles. It was also the first film debut for the late Jenni Rivera in which she plays a compelling role as a convicted moth-er. Although Bianchi didn’t get the opportunity to interact with her on set, he can attest to the impact she had in the film and to her undeni-able talent and charisma.

“Jenni is awesome, her per-formance in ‘Filly Brown’ is gut-wrenching,” said Bianchi. “Her per-formance is honest, truthful, it’s got an arch…it just goes to show that any consummate artist, any real consummate artist can prac-tice in multiple disciplines, and still excel.”

David’s interests and associations, professional and otherwise are as diverse and complex as the person himself. He is the quintessential art-ist, fluent in three languages—Eng-lish Spanish, and Portuguese—and

excelling in myriad facets of art and entertainment. He has been de-scribed as “energy itself…an explo-sion of emotion only held together by skin and bone.” Others describe him as having the “ability to drive you into a roller coaster of feel-ings and emotions, through his presence, remarkable voice and histrionic body language”. Yet on this cool winter morning he is subdued and reflective.

“God to me is everything,” He says. “In fact I was just studying Corinthians today, ‘If you live in the way of the Spirit you will not falter to the whims of the flesh…’ being God-fearing helps maintain humility…There’s something to be said about squandered success, about not looking at opportunities as gifts,” says Bianchi. “…if it can’t be perceived, it can’t be achieved, and perception is a state of mind.”

TOKYO (Reuters) - French-style seafood was always the big seller at Toshio Tanabe's Tokyo restaurant, but the chef for many years had a secret passion - soil. Now his long interest in soil cuisine has finally culminated in a feast he's been offering to customers the last few weeks, starting with an amuse bouche of soil soup and ending with a soil sorbet. At first, though, the search for a clean and chemical-free main ingredient was tough work. "I had to go all over the place to find soil, into the mountains and places like that. Places where there was no farming," he said. "Then of course I had to dig it up from deep under the ground." Now Tanabe sources his soil through a Tokyo-based supplier which delivers about a kilo (2.2 lbs.) of dirt a day, pre-checked for harmful substances. Previously, limited supplies had meant he could only serve an occasional soil dish or two. After the dirt arrives, he lightly cooks it to release the flavor, then runs it through a sieve to remove any stray grains of sand.

LOS HISPANOS DE CALIFORNIA VIVEN MÁS

La encuesta “Capítulo final - Ac-titudes y experiencias de los califor-nianos con la muerte”, presentada por California Healthcare Founda-tion, muestra que ante enferme-dades incurables casi seis de cada 10 hispanos prefieren vivir el mayor tiempo posible, el índice más alto entre los encuestados. Para el 56% de los hispanos “vivir lo más posi-ble” al final de su vida es “extrema-damente importante”, como lo es para el 43% de los afroamericanos, el 25% de los blancos y el 18% de los asiáticos.

Los hispanos tienen la segunda mayor expectativa de vida con 83.1 años, superados sólo por los asiáti-cos que presentan un promedio de 86.1. Los blancos tienen un prome-dio de vida esperada de 79.3 años y los afroamericanos de 73.3. No ob-stante, según señaló el doctor Mark D. Smith, presidente y director ejecutivo de California Healthcare Foundation, “con los tratamientos terminales hay una clara brecha en-tre los deseos y las acciones".

El estudio encontró que mientras la mayoría de pacientes terminales preferiría morir en su hogar, sólo 44%

de los encuestados que perdieron a una persona cercana en el último año afirmaron que sus deseos de morir fueron completamente cumplidos por los proveedores de servicios médicos. El porcentaje bajó a 26% cuando esas personas presentaban una barrera del lenguaje y a 25% cuando los pacientes no tenían se-guro al momento de morir.

De un poco más de 38,000 muertes de hispanos en 2009 en California, cerca de 8,500 fueron a causa del cáncer, casi 8,000 por en-fermedades del corazón y un poco más de 2,600, por accidentes. En-tre los hispanos encuestados, para siete de cada 10 a la hora de morir es muy importante “estar en paz es-piritualmente” y “no causar preocu-paciones a la familia por decisiones sobre el cuidado de salud”, aunque sólo un 9% tiene un documento con sus deseos sobre tratamiento médi-co terminal.

La encuesta, que entrevistó a cerca de 1,700 personas mayores de 18 años -un tercio de ellas latinas- de los cuales casi 400 habían perdido un ser querido en los últimos 12 meses, pre-senta un margen de error de 2.4%.

Los hispanos de California presentan el segundo mayor índice de expectativa de vida, pero son quienes menos se preocupan por dejar instrucciones escritas sobre sus últimos deseos para morir, según un estudio dado a conocer hoy.

HOW TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL.When I first started my coaching

practice, I was hardly making any money. It would have been easy to blame all of my financial woes on the economy, destiny, or bad luck (after-all, I was working really hard), but could I have been the culprit of my own misfortune? I became obsessed with reading books, going to semi-nars and learning from teachers top-ics on wealth, money, success, abun-dance and prosperity. The more I learned and applied the information to my life, the more my life began to change dramatically. Want to know some of the secrets to success?

There is a clear distinction be-tween how successful people behave and think versus those who aren’t. Successful people are positive. No,

they are not positive because they are successful; they are successful because they are positive. They do not go around saying things such as “I am just being realistic” since they believe that they create their own reality. The glass is always half full. They draw positive opportunities to them.

Do not talk to negative people about your goals and dreams. If you have dreams and goals you want to talk about, talk about it with mentors and other suc-cessful people. They have already ac-complished great things, so they will be able to give you great advice and cheer you on. I don’t care if it’s your own mother. If she’s negative, God bless her, but don’t talk to her about your dreams.

Act in spite of fear. One of my favorite books of all time is Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. Eker says, “Rich people act in spite of fear. Poor people let fear stop them.”

Have positive friends. Do not hang out with the negative nel-lies. There is a saying in Spanish that says, “dime con quién andas y te diré quién eres” which loosley translates

to “Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are!” Want to be successful? Hang out with other successful people. Eker says “Rich people associate with positive, suc-cessful people. Poor people associ-ate with negative and unsuccessful people.”

Be great at what you do right now. Are you currently at a job you dislike? Well, start liking it! Yes, you heard me. Find everything that you do like about your current job situation and be grateful that you have a job. Give 110% of yourself to your work and do it with pride. I am not suggesting you stay there for-ever. Eventually you will leave and start living your true life’s purpose but in the meantime, give it all you

got and with a smile. Giving and receiving. Are

you good at receiving compliments? How are you at receiving gifts? Are you a generous person? Life is about finding a perfect balance of giving and receiving. In order to receive, we must give. Eker states, “Rich people are excellent receivers. Poor people are poor receivers.”

Eat Healthy Food & Exer-cise. What does eating healthy have to do with success? Everything. I have never met a truly successful person that eats fast food everyday. Eating healthy is important for your mind, energy, mood and overall health. Buy organic, eat lots of fruits and veggies, drink tons of water, stop drinking sodas, and learn to read labels. If you can’t pronounce the ingredients, you should not be eating it! Exercising doesn’t have to be some difficult workout. Walking 20 minutes a day will make a huge difference in your life.

Be Organized and Clean . In the extraordinary book Money & Women, Financial Guru Suze Or-man says “you might be reading this and thinking that cleanliness is nice but not essential to your finan-

cial well-being. I am here to tell you that if this quality is not up front and center and if you do not adhere to it, there is no way you will ever own the power to control your destiny. Wealth will elude you, and you will be left withthe mess you created.”

Commit To Your Priorities. Most of us are running around like chicken with our heads cut off, but have we ever stopped and really evaluated what we do on a day-to-day basis? How much of it is really necessary? What can we permanent-ly cut out of our schedule in order to allow time for things that will get us closer to our goals and dreams? Be-cause truth be told, if we keep doing what we’ve always done, we will al-ways get what we’ve always gotten.

Be In Control of Your Life. Eker also says “Rich people believe ‘I create my life’ poor people believe ‘life happens to me’”.

Be Grateful and Be Happy. The more you are grateful for the things you have in life, the more wonderful things will continue to come your way. Make a list of what you are grateful for and add to it daily. Choose to be happy now. Stop waiting to be happy. If you think that money will bring you happiness, I’ve got news for you; it won’t. If you are an unhappy and ungrateful person, with lots of money you will just be-come a very rich unhappy and un-grateful person.

Love Yourself and Love Oth-ers. The meaning of life is simple: we are here to love. Forgive everyone and move on. Get rid of resentment and anger. BE love.

Have Faith. Start believing more in yourself and in your abili-ties. Never give-up and know that it’s not that successful people never fail, it’s that they never quit. Act as if your dreams have already come true.

It's hard for a lot of guys to admit to their wives that they went to a strip club, let alone admitting they spent $1,000 on the attractions.Jesus Mata Jr., a 21-year-old from Texas, recently received his 2013 tax refund and decided to spend it at a strip bar called Whispers in La Feria.After he spent all the cash, he concocted a titillating tale to police about how six gunmen in two trucks robbed him at gunpoint with assault weapons. Investigators from the Cameron County Sheriff's Department and the Harlingen Police Department tried to track down the trucks, but got suspicious when no leads emerged.When the detectives again questioned Mata, he admitted making up the story to hide the fact that he blew the whole $1,000 wad.Mata was arrested and charged with filing a false report, according to KWTX-TV.No word yet on how he will be punished . . . by his wife.

The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said Benedict himself had made the decision in consultation with others, settling on "Your Holi-ness Benedict XVI" and either emeritus pope or emeritus Ro-man pontiff.

Lombardi said he didn't know why Benedict had decided to drop his other main title: bishop of Rome.

In the two weeks since Bene-dict's resignation announce-ment, Vatican officials had sug-gested that Benedict would likely resume wearing the traditional black garb of a cleric and would use the title "emeritus bishop of Rome" so as to not create confu-sion with the future pope.

Benedict's decision to call himself emeritus pope and to keep wearing white is sure to fan concern voiced privately by

some cardinals about the awk-ward reality of having two popes, both living within the Vatican walls.

Asked about the potential conflicts, Lombardi was defen-sive, saying the decisions had been clearly reasoned and were likely chosen for the sake of sim-plicity.

"I believe it was well thought out," he said.

Benedict himself has made clear he is retiring to a lifetime of prayer and meditation "hid-den from the world." However, he still will be very present in the tiny Vatican city-state, where his new home is right next door to the Vatican Radio and has a lovely view of the dome of St. Pe-ter's Basilica.

While he will no longer wear his trademark red shoes, Bene-dict has taken a liking to a pair of hand-crafted brown loaf-ers made for him by artisans in Leon, Mexico, and given to him during his 2012 visit. He will wear those in retirement, Lom-bardi said.
