April Opportunities
The old saying goes… “April Showers bring May flowers.” Since I love flower gardening, I have always felt a fond connection to that proverb. In fact, on this rainy Wednesday (well past the deadline for this article), I stopped by the Grass Pad and bought some cannas, seeds, and onion plants.
April also brings many opportunities for service, celebration, fellowship, and worship. The list below shows an April that is perhaps the busiest since I have been here. You perhaps will not fit everything into your family schedule and that is okay. How-ever, I encourage you to take part in what you can as you seek to serve, celebrate, and worship with your family of faith!
April Blessings,
April 1, Church Workday
Saturday at 8 am – Help clean up the church property for spring (Volunteers needed).

PAGE 4 APRIL 2017 THE GATHER, GROW, & GO NEWSLETTER
We had a great Spring Workday at the church on Saturday, March 25. Roughly 30 members were in attendance for this annual tradition hosted by the Trustees, powered by coffee, donuts, pizza, and prayer. Groups broke out to gather up the pruned branches from the row of hedge trees along the drive, refresh the mulched areas surrounding the building, and to work on the landscaping for the expansion. Despite a very challenging work area, we made significant progress towards completing
the landscaping plan. The first 6 feet from the building on the South of the expansion (Fellowship room) can only be described as "neigh unbreakable", so if you see one of
the brave souls who broke that ground for our beautiful trees, shrubs, and tall grasses, please say "Thank You" (they are easy to spot, likely still wandering about with a nearly broken digging tool and blis-tered hands). We had to schedule a follow-up workday for April 1, but all-in-all it was a great day!
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Beautiful Savior Preschool and MDO parents came out on Tuesday, March 7, for our second annual Open House night. Children were invited to bring their parents to five different rooms and the playground for an evening of learning and fun. Each room had a different learning theme such as music, movement, art, science and math, sensory, and play. Parents were also given handouts explaining the im-portance of each activity and also
sharing ideas for how to incorporate these ac-tivities at home. It was wonderful to see so many families come out for this fun event!

8th Grade Confirmation Trip
This year’s Confirmands spent the weekend in St. Louis, learning about the history of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and seeing firsthand where it all began. We started by taking a tour of
Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, where we were able to stand in CFW Wal-ther’s Pulpit and see the chalice that he used. This chalice was brought over by the Saxon Lutherans and is still used to this day. After this tour we went to Con-
cordia Seminary, where the theology and traditions of the LCMS is passed on to those who are studying to be pastors in the LCMS. While at the seminary, we were treated to a special Carillon perfor-mance in Luther Tower, by Bill Wrede, a former classmate of Pastor Schultz. In addition to these tours we were able to see the grounds of the Gateway Arch, the Basilica of St. Louis, have fun ex-ploring the City Museum and of course no
trip to St. Louis would be com-plete without a stop at the fa-mous Ted Drewes, where they have been selling, hands down, the best frozen custard for over 80 years.
