The ConceptYour meter is registered on the PrepaidMeters.co.za prepayment management system.

Every meter registered on the system has a suspense account. It's called a suspense account because funds loaded to an account are held in suspense, as a monetary value, until the customer wants to exchange the funds for an amount of electricity. In order to exchange a monetary value for electricity, the meter account must have a positive available balance.

When a monetary value is exchanged for electricity it takes the form of a credit token. A credit token is a 20 digit number that can be entered to the physical prepaid meter device using the meter keypad.

Page 3: TenantManual Outsourced

A credit token holds a variety of information, including the amount of kilowatt hours purchased with the exchanged monetary value.

When a credit token is created it cannot be revoked and the monetary value of the credit token is deducted from the available balance of the suspense account. A credit token can be created for all or part of the available balance, but not more.

When a credit token is entered to a meter it shows the value of the credit token in kilowatts hours and adds this value to the number of kilowatt hours remaining in the meter.

As electricity is consumed the number of available kilowatt hours will be reduced. A new credit token must be entered to the prepaid meter before the number of kilowatt hours reaches zero to avoid disconnection of supply to the distribution board. In the event of a disconnection, the meter will automatically reconnect the supply when a new credit token is entered.

A meter will only accept a credit token that was created specifically for it and, once a token is accepted, will not allow that same token to be entered again.

Funding your meter accountYou can fund your meter account using any of the following methods:

● Cash deposit

● Electronic Fund Transfer

● Credit card

● UniPIN VouchersOnce funds are loaded you can create a credit token for all or part of the available balance. TIP: It is a good idea to always create credits tokens for part of your available balance. Leaving some available balance in the meter account ensures that you always have a small reserve and therefore be able to create a credit token at anytime of day or night. This will ensure that you always have enough electricity for weekends and public holidays in case of system errors, bank errors, or any other unexpected hiccups.

Cash DepositYou can fund your meter account by making an over counter cash deposit at any branch of ABSA bank. When making a cash deposit you will need to complete a Cash Deposit slip.

Minimum deposit is R100.Use your 11-digit meter number as the reference. Complete the slip using the following bank account details. Account name: Enbaya Prepaid Meters CC.Account number: 922 509 3170

Page 4: TenantManual Outsourced

Enter your full 11-digit meter number in the reference field. IMPORTANT: It is important to enter your full 11-digit meter number. If the meter number is incorrectly entered your deposit will not be automatically added to your meter account. Instead it will remain as unallocated until you call the PrepaidMeters.co.za support line and the error is fixed. Please allow 15 minutes for ABSA to notify the prepayment management system before attempting to create a credit token. If after 15 minutes you are unable to get a credit token, please contact the PrepaidMeters.co.za support line on 087 5500 870. Following is an example ABSA deposit slip.THE SLIP BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE ONLY. THE METER NUMBER SHOWN MUST BE REPLACED WITH YOUR 11-DIGIT METER NUMBER.

NOTE: ABSA Cashiers are not allowed to perform cash corrections once you have made your deposit. If you or the cashier has made an error, please contact 087 55 00 870 to fix the problem. Electronic Fund Transfer

If you do internet banking, you can fund your meter account by making an Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). Before you can make an Electronic Fund Transfer you need to add the following account as a beneficiary in your Online Banking profile. Account name: Enbaya Prepaid Meters CC.Account number: 922 509 3170Branch Code: 516805Bank: ABSA Cresta

Provide your full 11-digit meter number as the reference. The 11-digit meter number can be found on the front of your meter.

IMPORTANT: It is important to enter only your full 11-digit

Page 5: TenantManual Outsourced

meter number. DO NOT ENTER 10-digits or 12-digits. ONLY THE 11-digit meter number. If the meter number is incorrectly entered your deposit will not be automatically added to your meter account. Instead it will remain as unallocated until you call the PrepaidMeters.co.za support line and the error is fixed. When using EFT to fund your meter account please note that inter-bank transfers can take up to two days. Your meter account will not be credited until the inter-bank transfer is

complete and funds reflect in the ABSA account.

TIP: Ask your bank to add the account above as a beneficiary that you can pay when using an ATM machine. Once the account is a beneficiary available from your ATM service you will be able to use any of your bankers ATM Machines to fund your Prepaid Meter account. Even outside of banking hours If you bank with ABSA, give it 20 minutes before you SMS. If you bank with another bank you need to take into consideration the inter-bank transfer window. To avoid being without power, we recommend that you top up early and always leave some credit in your meter control account.

UniPIN USSD Vending

Mobile operators in South Africa recognize all short code numbers as Premium Rated SMS numbers EVEN WHEN they are not premium rated. The result for customers with free SMS's or special SMS discount bundles is that Mobile Operators drop free and special SMS requests to short code numbers. Our short code 31696 and 41589 are not premium rated, meaning that the SMS should be charged by the mobile operators at the Standard SMS rate of the Mobile Operator. However, because of the above, SMS's sent to these short codes by customers with free SMS's or special SMS discount bundles are dropped by the Mobile Operators. To overcome this problem, customers can use USSD. USSD is useful for customers who have free SMS's or special SMS discount bundles. USSD is also cheaper than most standard rated SMS bundles. UniPIN USSD Vending: 1. Your UniPIN voucher number is located on your receipts.2. Dial the following string:

*120*41589*vouchernumber*meternumber# Example: *120*41589*4857110033882717*07060000002#

3. Press the dial button on your phone.4. Follow the prompts.5. You will receive an SMS response containing the credit token.6. Enter the 20 digit credit token into the meter using the key pad.

Once entered the kWh value reflected on the meter and the display will be updated accordingly.

IMPORTANT: The first time you use UniPIN to obtain a Credit Token, please be aware that there may be a delay of up to 3-minutes before you receive a Credit Token back. This time should be reduced to less than 20-seconds response for subsequent purchases.

Please use the PrepaidMeters.co.za UniPIN Store Locator website to help you find retail locations where UniPIN Vouchers are on sale. The website address is PrepaidMeters.co.za UniPIN Store Locator .

Auto Vend on FundingAuto Vend on Funding is a feature of the prepayment management system that enables you to tell the system what to do when your meter account receives funding. Auto Vend on Funding is a convenient feature as it will automatically create and send you a credit token, while leaving a reserve on your meter account for emergency cases. For example, you may define that whenever funds are received to your meter account that the system will automatically create and send you a credit token by SMS for a percentage of the funds received. So if you defined that Auto Vend on Funding will create and send you a credit token for 80% of funds received and you deposited R100. You will automatically receive a credit token to the value

Page 14: TenantManual Outsourced

of R80. The remaining R20 will remain as an available balance until you need it. At which time you could use either the SMS or Web interface to obtain a credit token for the remaining available balance. IMPORTANT: Use of Auto Vend on Funding is reliant on you having the correct cellphone number defined under your customer settings. If the cellphone number is incorrect, you will not receive the automatically generated SMS messages containing your credit tokens. To configure Auto Vend on Funding: 1. Login to the prepayment management system.2. Above the customer details, next to the label Customer, click the edit link.

The edit screen is displayed.3. Check that your cellphone number for SMS notifications is correct.4. From the Auto Vend on Funding drop list select a percentage you want to auto vend each time

the meter account receives funding.5. Save the change. The next time your account receives funding an SMS containing a Credit Token for the defined percentage of the amount received will be automatically sent to the cellphone number provided. If you wish to turn Auto Vend on Funding off simply repeat the steps above and select the 0 - None from the Auto Vend on Funding drop list.
