The presidentclaimed allprotestors wereterrorists, andso the civil warbegan!.

In March 2011, President Bashar al-Assad

cracked down on the protesters by arrestingchildren for anti-government graffiti, firing intomosques, and arresting people who participate inthese rallies.

Due to the growing frequency of anti-government demonstrations in theMiddle East, the people began anti-government rallies.

Throughout history, Syria has been atug-or-war country between its peopleand the long standing regime of the

Assad dictatorship.

Lebanon hosts over 1.1 million refugees, about a quarter of the population.

In present day Syria,chlorine chemical weaponsand other nerve agents areused against the innocentcivilians.

Since 2011, there have been 3 million Syriansdisplaced from their home, pushed by their countryspolitical conflict.

The asylum the refugees are running to are thesurrounding countries. This story is about a womanshardship to try to escape the country who has forcedher to flee her house and home.

Lima, a Syrian pregnantwoman, stands in herkitchen slaving away at thenights dinner. A knockarrives at the door.

Mohammed!? Thats my husband!Lima broke down in tears, realizing shewas now alone with her unborn child.

Standing on her doorstep is a young paper boy who is reading from a ripped piece ofpaper, Two hours ago a chemical bomb was dropped on the local construction site.The following names are the ones who have passed. Saud, Munif, Latif, Imam,Mohammed, Humam!

Where can Igo? Turkey is apparently too

crowded with refugees and I have heardthat Lebanon is one of the safest asylums to

escape to. I will go there for the good ofmyself and my unborn child.

Over half of Syrian refugees are under the age of 17. Most deaths that occur in thecamps are due to dirty water, overcrowding, exposure to the elements, and lack ofbasic infrastructure.

After a few months, Limabegan to feel pains withiher stomach. They grewfrom a slight annoyanceto the feeling of a boaconstrictor around herstomach. The fellow

ladies in the tent told hershe was having herchild, and twenty-fourhours later, Ali was born

Lima could not handle the pain.Without modern medicine she died

during childbirth as a war refugeewiththe idea of the safe haven in Lebanonstill in her mind.

After a few medical

tests, Ali wasdiagnosed with aheart defect. Hissystem was notefficient in helpinghim breath orpumping bloodthrough his body.The doctors claimed

he would either pusthrough it, or diewithin two years.

Ali went to live with anotherSyrian refugee woman namedJada. She cared for him the bestshe could, treating him as if hewere her own son.

One morning, Jada went to go get a pail of waterfor her and Ali. Along the way, she met aLebanese policeman. Nervously, she keep hereyes glued to the path and continued walking.

But the policeman had another idea. Hegrabbed her and forced her into agovernment hut, where she was raped,not capable of fighting back. For if shedid, Jada would have most certainlybeen killed.

Jada was mentallyscarred for life, butshe knew she hadto continue caringfor her littleorphan. After ayear, Ali wasnt

doing much better.The camp was notsupplyingmedication for him,and he wasgrowing weaker.

After 10 months of the camps harshconditions, Ali was scheduled for asurgery to save his life.

After surgery, Ali was in a struggle. It wasbeginning to be winter and there wasntenough blankets for every refugee to

have one, so as a result Ali began toshake. Jada gave Ali her blanket but hewas already turning blue.

I covered myson with blankets, but

he was not warming up,and he turned blue before

he passed away in myhands...

Jada began topiece togetherher story thatshe would tellher friends...

Sadly, this isnt an uncommon story for Syrian refugee camps.People continue to die everyday in search of political safety.These refugee camps are not exactly ideal, but they have nowhere else to go. Until we do something, they will continue to

suffer from these hardships and forced migration.
