Why is there a need for strengthening the cooperation in Southeast Europe? Some spotlights:
Only 1992 end of Communist rule in Albania 1995 end of the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina 1998 the last Serb held enclave in eastern Slavonia was
returned to Croatia 1998-99 NATO bombing on Belgrade during Kosovo conflict 2001 end of ethnic civil unrest in FYRo Macedonia 2006 Serbia and Montenegro become independent states
There is still a need for trust-building cooperation measures in
Southeast Europe; especially in the region of the Western
Balkan countries.
