SPREADING THE ATTACK…San Jose has had eight different players (Braun, Hertl, Nieto, Pelech, Burns, Wingels, Pavelski,Couture) record game-winning goals in eight of its ten victories this season, tied for the second-most in the NHL thus far (Colorado hasnine different players with game-winning tallies). Five of those eight players scored their first career game-winning goal in the process(Braun, Hertl, Nieto, Pelech, Wingels). STRIKING EARLY: In five of their 14 games this season, the Sharks have scored within the first minute of the game: A list of thosegames is as follows: 10/30 at Los Angeles (0:13, Marc-Edouard Vlasic), 10/19 vs. Calgary (0:59, Brent Burns), 10/17 @ Dallas (0:09,Tyler Kennedy), 10/12 vs. Ottawa (0:55, Tomas Hertl), 10/5 vs. Phoenix (0:46, Tomas Hertl). In addition, Tomas Hertl scored at 1:16 onOct. 27 at Ottawa.  EVEN STEVEN…The Sharks finished the 2012-13 season ranked 18th in the League in five-on-five goals for and against ratio (1.00).Through the team’s first 14 contests this year, San Jose ranks tied for third owning a 1.83 ratio. (Elias Sports Bureau). RESET/REFRESH…Beginning in March 2013, Sharks EVP &General Manager Doug Wilson began an on-going process to reset andrefresh the Sharks roster and line-up.Along with moving Brent Burns up to the forward position, where he posted 20 points (9-11) in 30 games, the Sharks also acquired Raffi Torres and Scott Hannan in trades. On March 25, the Sharks entered play with a record of 13-11-6, tied for ninth in the WesternConference and had scored 2.37 goals per game during the season’s first 30 games. From March 25 through the playoffs, San Josewent 19-9-1, finishing sixth in the Western Conference and tallying 2.59 goals per contest (including playoffs).At the trade deadline, Wilson acquired a bevy of draft selections in trades for Douglas Murray (two second round selections), RyaneClowe (second, third and fifth round selections), Michal Handzus (fourth round selection). He moved TJ Galiardi later in the summer(fifth round selection). At the NHL Draft, the team acquired forward Tyler KennedyEntering the 2013-14 season, Wilson replaced some of those departed veterans with younger players such as Tomas Hertl (2012draft) and Matt Nieto (2011 draft) and increased roles for players like Tommy Wingels, Justin Braun and Matt Irwin. YOUTH IS SERVED…Tomas Hertl scored his first two career NHL goals on Oct. 5 vs. Phoenix. Hertl (19y, 327d) is the youngestplayer to score two goals in a game for the Sharks since Patrick Marleau (19y, 183d) did so on Mar. 17, 1999, vs. Florida. 2013-14marks the first season San Jose has opened the campaign with a teenager (Hertl, 19) since Marc-Edouard Vlasic (19) began the2006-07 season with the Sharks (courtesy of Elias).  YOUTH MOVEMENTWith teenage rookies Zemgus Girgensons, Mikhail Grigorenko, Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita Zadorov on the roster, the Sabreshave become the first NHL team since 1995-96 to dress four teenagers during the course of a season.
