Extra-curricular Activities 2014: Veterinary Clinical Training Review Murdoch University, WA Final Year Student Representative:

-­‐ One of the two final year representatives for an independent review by the Quality Assurance Department of Murdoch University, Head of veterinary school Massey University and Townsville, and the Head of Dentistry school UWA.

-­‐ Student representatives were chosen to represent the cohort and provide accurate and credible feedback pertaining to clinical training provided by the College.

2013-Present: Continuing Veterinary Education (CVE) Murdoch University, WA CVE Ambassador:

-­‐ Promote and facilitate continuing education events as a student figure to fellow colleagues.

-­‐ Organise and assist in setting up for seminars and workshops (e.g. ultrasound, cardiology, orthopaedic workshops).

-­‐ Representative for the CVE office at the annual AVA Trade Fair.

2012-Present: Murdoch Association of Veterinary Public Health (MAVPH;

Special Interest Group) Murdoch University, WA Co-founder 2012, Advisor 2014:

-­‐ MAVPH was formed in 2012 to promote awareness and gather interest from students regarding ongoing public health topics within the profession.

-­‐ Annual sponsorship and funding were successfully obtained from the Vet Trust and Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

-­‐ Seminars were organized throughout the year, which included a myriad of topics from wildlife zoonotic diseases to use of antimicrobials in food producing animals.

-­‐ Field trips such as the recent abattoirs visit proved to be a success.

Native Animal Rescue Centre Perth, WA Volunteer Hobbies Childhood supporter of Liverpool Football Club; and playing soccer on the weekend after a long week has never been better. Individually I adore the challenge of long distance road cycling (longest race yet was in Lorne, Victoria 2011 – Amy Gran Fondo 120 km). Gardening; where my current focus lies in flowering the orchids (Phalaenopsis spp) especially after the cold season. I have also recently dismantled my marine water tank where my beautiful seahorses used to reside in for years. In my leisure time I enjoy being with my partner, play fetch with our two Maine Coon X cats and chase our 6 rabbits around to help them lose some weight. I also enjoy indulging in personal development books from Malcolm Gladwell’s series and “The Dalai Lama’s Cat” by David Michie; which I have found extremely inspiring. Areas of Interest Aspects of companion animal practice I really enjoy are related to internal medicine, with special interest in endocrinology. My goal for the next 5 years would be attain a membership with the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. I also have a soft spot for cats, and would be extremely keen to enrol in online continuing education courses offered by certain universities (e.g. Sydney University, Massey University) within the next 1-2 years. Other areas of veterinary work I am also keen in: - Food production systems and Nutrition (e.g. aquaculture) - One Health - Research/field work/laboratory work
