Fact 1:• Thomas Jefferson was 6 foot 2

inches.

Fact 2:• His face is craved into a sculpture at

Mount Rushmore.

Fact 3:• He was the first US President to

shake hands with the people instead of bowing to them.

Fact 4:• Jefferson’s had a pet mockingbird

called Dick. It used to ride on his shoulders. He trained the bird to take bits of food from between his lips.

Fact 5:• Jefferson was mostly a vegetarian

Fact 6:• Peas were Jefferson's favorite food.

Fact 7:• He owned slaves but wanted to end

slavery because he knew it was wrong.

Fact 8:• He had 9 siblings.

Fact 9:• Thomas Jefferson and his friend and

sometimes enemy, John Adams , both died on July 4th, 1826. He died a few hours before John Adams

Fact 10:• Thomas Jefferson has been on the

nickel since 1938.
