Today, it seems unimaginable to live

without all those gadgets and appliances.

There is just no way would life be

bearable without these useful electronics.

As the world starts to venture into

nanotechnology, the role of electronics will

be greater than ever.

The world is at this point wherein the

claim “electronics changed the world” is but

a mere understatement. A good share of the

notable inventions uses electricity, which

has sped up the pace of development across

countries.

But electronics would not be as useful as they are today if not for one

important component: the potentiometer. Without this device, every gadget would

function in a linear manner without any form of control at all.

Entertainment, however, is just one of the

many potential uses of the potentiometer. It is

almost always present in any device across all

industries. In the healthcare industry, its use

could range from being the main sensor of a

digital thermometer to an integral part of a

large digitized machine. The case is also the

same for aerospace and manufacturing,

wherein the potentiometer presents many uses

from acting as a control measure to being the

main feature of a gadget.

The Potential of the Potentiometer

A potentiometer is pretty much a universal part in every electronic.

This part is essential in controlling the different frequencies and signals in

all gadgets. The simplest example would be the volume control of an audio

system. Without the potentiometer, it would be impossible for the user to

turn up or tune down the volume of the machine.

The Function of the Device

It might strike many curious as to how this part functions. In simplest terms, it

creates an adjustable voltage divider. Through this component, the device becomes

capable of adjusting signals and frequencies. It dissipates electricity to control a certain

function of the appliance so it becomes responsive to different actions.

Indeed, the world of electronics has gone far in changing everyday life.

Nevertheless, this would not be possible if not for the existence of the potentiometer,

which continues to be of use to everyone in the world, every day.
