News
Roger Hacior
As you all know, in early April I took on some new responsibilities, managing Pemmican Lodge and also Black Rock Terrace. What makes this possible is that we have a strong team of hard working and dedicated employees at each building. In order to support each of our teams and our residents, we have hired assistant managers for each lodge.
Please join me in welcoming Clinton Kienzle to our Pemmican team, taking on the role of our first ever assistant manager at Pemmican Lodge. Clinton will spend the first few weeks learning the ins and outs of the administration side of the Green Acres Foundation operations. He will then join us later this month at the lodge. And finally, I think it is safe to say, “welcome to Spring”!

The Resident acknowledges and agrees to provide income information as above or as requested by the Foundation.
The Resident must notify the Foundation in writing within 15 days of any change in financial information. The Foundation will back-date the adjusted monthly fee to the commencement of the addition of new benefits.

And my heart to smile through my eyes

May is here and summer is near.
Mother's Day is May 13 and I would like to wish all
the mothers a Happy Mother's Day.

nice sunny weather for all of us to enjoy.

Reminders
Emergency Procedures - Loss of Cooling
In the event of mechanical breakdown resulting in a loss of cooling particularly in warmer weather,
procedures are in place to minimize the impact on residents. Residents can assist to keep the
building as cool as possible by keeping windows securely closed when the temperature outside is 25°
C or warmer. Keeping window coverings closed during daylight hours will help to keep the suite from
heating up from the sun.
Residents should dress lightly, turn off unnecessary lights, and may be moved to the coolest area of
the building, which may be the basement. Cool liquids will be provided to residents throughout the
day.
In the event the situation cannot be resolved for a longer period of time, the Foundation may request
that residents contact a family member to stay with until the situation is resolved.
Please see your manager if you have any questions or concerns.
Resident and Family Councils
As you know, we have resident meetings quarterly. We hope you attend these meetings to give us
your comments on activities, housekeeping, meals, maintenance, and the overall service we provide
you. These meetings are also your opportunity to bring forward suggestions, requests, questions, or
concerns that you have not already spoken to the Manager about. Family members are always
welcome to attend these meetings.
Recently the provincial government created the Resident-Family Councils Act. It is a formal process
to create a council to address the topics that we currently talk about at our resident meetings. If you
would like to create a formal Resident and Family Council, you are welcome to do so. Information can
be found at www.alberta.ca/resident-family-councils.aspx.
