people and ah your name has has come up just as a person to

contact now do you know anything about the case at all have

you heard anything or

RAFFERTY: um just the stuff that you hear like on the news and stuff I

mean you kinda keep your ears peeled to what everybody’s

saying too because you uh know you wanna help but

JOHNSON: right

RAFFERTY: um there was a girl who I was sort of seeing um well who I met

who ah who was like telling me like stuff that she was hearing

and stuff like that if any of it’s true I don’t know but

JOHNSON: okay

RAFFERTY: that’s about it (laugh)

JOHNSON: can you tell me about this girl who

RAFFERTY: I don’t know her last name her first name was Amanda um she

was apparently friends with her daughter was friends with um

the girl who went missing

JOHNSON: okay so Amanda how do you know Amanda

JOHNSON: okay so Amanda’s daughter

RAFFERTY: Amanda’s daughter is best friends with or was friends with this

girl who went missing so

JOHNSON: okay and you don’t know Amanda’s last name at all

RAFFERTY: no

JOHNSON: do you know the daughter’s name

RAFFERTY: no

JOHNSON: so you’ve met went out with Amanda a couple times

RAFFERTY: a couple times yeah

JOHNSON: where does Amanda live then

RAFFERTY: ah here in town she lives um (pause) ah it starts with a B it’s

the second last street out of town just before the train tracks by

the Tim Hortons um if you’re going down Dundas that way um

it’s the second last street out of before you get out of town um

Baxber Bexter or Baxter or something along those lines

JOHNSON: yeah we’re not from around here

RAFFERTY: okay it’s

Page 5: Michael Rafferty police interview

JOHNSON: we’re from out of the area as well

RAFFERTY: something along those lines it’s it’s like um it’s the second last

street out of town so

JOHNSON: okay that’s fine and when ah were you dating Amanda

RAFFERTY: um we were talking before all this craziness stuff went

happening and stuff like that and then we I’d say like three (3)

times we met hung out that was about it

JOHNSON: when was so when was that that you met up with her and hung

out with her

RAFFERTY: um well we were talking maybe a month and a half I think

before all that happened before

JOHNSON: before the girl went missing

RAFFERTY: yeah and then um once the girl went missing she started

spending a lot of time um with the family there and we started

not spending so much time with each other and then we just

stopped talking

JOHNSON: Amanda started spending time with the family whose family

RAFFERTY: with the girl who went missing with her family

JOHNSON: have you met Tara MCDONALD

RAFFERTY: no I don’t know who she is

JOHNSON: okay does Amanda just ah you know um for my own sake you

know to know her to find out who she is does she work

somewhere

RAFFERTY: does Amanda work somewhere

JOHNSON: yeah

RAFFERTY: not that I know of but she works somewhere I don’t know

where I don’t really know anything about her

RAFFERTY: like we we fooled around and stuff but that was it

JOHNSON: right so when’s the last time you would have uh spoke to

Amanda or saw her

RAFFERTY: um I’d say like a week and a half two (2) weeks um after that

girl went missing she said that um like she was going through a

lot of problems apparently or something and so I just we just

kinda cut it off sorta about that time

JOHNSON: so how long ago was

RAFFERTY: about two (2) weeks

JOHNSON: two (2) weeks ago

RAFFERTY: a week and a half two (2) weeks no a week and a half two (2)

weeks after after the girl went missing

JOHNSON: okay and um what did Amanda tell you about the case then you

said she kinda spoke about it

RAFFERTY: well she just told me like uh she her daughter was friends with

the little girl um that the mom um was into a lot of stuff and

JOHNSON: like what

RAFFERTY: like drugs and stuff like that and I don’t know just and just the

stuff that I mean you hear on the news but it’s different when

Page 8: Michael Rafferty police interview

you hear it from somebody who’s like friends with them or

who knows them or something like that so you just kinda I

mean I don’t know what to you don’t know how to react to it

but on the other hand you just it’s too much drama so you just

kinda cut it out

JOHNSON: yeah um did she say what kind of drugs they’re into

RAFFERTY: no

JOHNSON: no

RAFFERTY: no um I know like the word on the street is a lot different

though like the words the words that kinda you know people

say like I hear that girl’s always at Goodtime Charlie’s and

JOHNSON: what girl

RAFFERTY: the mom um Tara that she’s like at Goodtime Charlie’s and that

place is like a crack bar apparently like everybody who does

drugs in the town hangs out there so um just (laugh) I don’t

know how to react to it like I don’t it’s not my business but on

the other hand it’s too much drama when you hear somebody

like gossiping and talking behind other people’s backs

JOHNSON: um so have you bin in town that long

RAFFERTY: no like have I what do you mean

Page 9: Michael Rafferty police interview

JOHNSON: well it’s just

RAFFERTY: like it’s not

JOHNSON: it’s just we need that information do you know what I mean so

RAFFERTY: but it doesn’t sorry just doesn’t make sense to me why you

would need my girlfriend’s name who moved out

JOHNSON: well just because it’s you’re talking about someone we don’t

know who you’re talking about

RAFFERTY: okay

JOHNSON: you know what I mean just to complete it

RAFFERTY: um hmm

while I was working there I met somebody who lived like right

so

RAFFERTY: ah an Acura

JOHNSON: oh

RAFFERTY: it’s just it’s done nice so

RAFFERTY: I’m not comfortable telling anybody about that personal

information

JOHNSON: okay well

RAFFERTY: just because I just think

JOHNSON: what about Terri-Lynne how old is she then

RAFFERTY: I don’t know nineteen (19) I think

JOHNSON: okay

RAFFERTY: I don’t know

JOHNSON: um anyone else then

JOHNSON: okay

RAFFERTY: like I I couldn’t give first and last names of anybody I know

because I haven’t haven’t bin friends with anybody I don’t

know anybody so

JOHNSON: so back on the eighth (8th) of April okay when the little girl

went missing uh

RAFFERTY: okay

JOHNSON: um did you follow it at all did you hear about it in the in the

news or anything like that

RAFFERTY: I heard the helicopters and stuff

JOHNSON: did ya

RAFFERTY: and that’s when I realized that some crazy stuff was going on

but

JOHNSON: right when when was the first that you heard about it like who

told you about it

RAFFERTY: the helicopters that morning and I was sleeping and I heard the

helicopter I was like holy crap and then that’s when

Page 22: Michael Rafferty police interview

everybody’s talking my mom said did you know that this

happened and then yeah

JOHNSON: it was a Wednesday ah she she went missing

RAFFERTY: oh I don’t remember what day

JOHNSON: from you know it was a Wednesday from Oliver Stephen’s up

on ah the Fyfe Ave area

RAFFERTY: um hmm

JOHNSON: do you know that area at all over by Fyfe

RAFFERTY: yeah I know where the area is

JOHNSON: okay ah that’s where she was last seen uh

RAFFERTY: um hmm

JOHNSON: around you know the three (3) thirty (30) mark or so um have

you talked to any other than Pamela…or Amanda anyone else

or have you talked to Terri-Lynne about it at all

RAFFERTY: yeah she said um people were asking her questions about it and

that um she something about I don’t know some thing

regarding like the mom was into drugs or something and I

don’t know how that whole scenario works out but

Page 23: Michael Rafferty police interview

The following transcript has been prepared for the convenience of the reader. Please refer to the original format in which the statement was obtained for accuracy.

JOHNSON: but who’s mom

RAFFERTY: the girl’s mom

JOHNSON: okay was into drugs again

RAFFERTY: yeah

JOHNSON: so similar to what you heard from

RAFFERTY: something like everybody like

JOHNSON: Amanda

RAFFERTY: I think Terri-Lynne hangs around a lot of bad people or a lot of

druggies or a lot of messed up people and they all talk and she

said the word is that you know she’s into drugs or owes a lot of

money for drugs just stupid shit like that that you hear so

JOHNSON: so what about uh Terri-Lynne would she be into drugs at all do

you know

RAFFERTY: I know that her mom is

JOHNSON: what’s her

RAFFERTY: her mom’s messed up

JOHNSON: is she

Page 24: Michael Rafferty police interview

The following transcript has been prepared for the convenience of the reader. Please refer to the original format in which the statement was obtained for accuracy.

RAFFERTY: like she’s she’s messed up

JOHNSON: like in what way like drugs

RAFFERTY: she like yeah she shoots up and she she’s messed up like it’s

it’s sad I know that Terri used to do a lot of drugs

JOHNSON: So have you bin over to her place to see that then

RAFFERTY: to see the drug yeah like my mom and I have tried to tried to

help out a bit um like when we heard when Terri got picked up

cuz Terri’s I think she’s trying to keep her mom out of like

trouble or something, I don’t really know

JOHNSON: yeah

RAFFERTY: and um so when she had to go she’s in gin Genest or Ginelle

Gegaukle (u/i) Detention Centre or whatever it is ah she’s in

there now so we tried to like we brought plants and like not

drugs plants just

JOHNSON: yeah

RAFFERTY: (laugh) plants and furniture and

JOHNSON: trying to help out

Page 25: Michael Rafferty police interview

RAFFERTY: you know offered like groceries or offered rides and stuff like

that to help

JOHNSON: right

RAFFERTY: out but you go and you show up and she’s pulling a needle out

of her arm or something it’s just

JOHNSON: so how many times have you bin over at uh Terri-Lynne’s

mom’s place

RAFFERTY: um a handful of times not like five (5) times or less something

like that

JOHNSON: do you know her first name or

RAFFERTY: Carol I think

JOHNSON: Carol okay

RAFFERTY: yeah so and I know it’s not her real mom but it’s I know there’s

every time I I stop by there there’s there’s like somebody there

screwed up outta their tree and shootin up or it’s uh

JOHNSON: when’s the last time you would of stopped by there

RAFFERTY: stopped by yesterday to see how everything went um because

Terri had court yesterday so and then it was carried on to today

Page 26: Michael Rafferty police interview

apparently um but I don’t know nothing about today I was

gonna stop by there later and then um

JOHNSON: did you go there with your mom or anyone else was there

someone else with you

RAFFERTY: no I just stopped by and somebody else was already there

JOHNSON: yeah like a a relative or a friend

RAFFERTY: (laugh) no I don’t think it’s a relative

JOHNSON: no

RAFFERTY: just a young girl

JOHNSON: okay

RAFFERTY: um

JOHNSON: that’s too bad about her situation like that then

RAFFERTY: her mom

JOHNSON: yeah

RAFFERTY: her mom’s messed up

Page 27: Michael Rafferty police interview

JOHNSON: that’s sounds like maybe Terri-Lynne then has opened up to

you as a friend then and told you about her mom

RAFFERTY: well I’m like her

JOHNSON: like her real mother

RAFFERTY: well I’m the only person she knows who doesn’t do drugs or

doesn’t you know I’m not in that group of people I guess

JOHNSON: right

RAFFERTY: so I don’t know

JOHNSON: so maybe a good thing for her that way

RAFFERTY: maybe but I’m nobody’s personal case worker (laugh)

JOHNSON: no like when would you have met her Terri-Lynne then

RAFFERTY: (pause) I don’t know exactly um

JOHNSON: like a month ago

RAFFERTY: let’s say let’s say a couple months ago maybe I met her maybe

a month and a half two (2) months about two (2) months ago

maybe

JOHNSON: like in March would it be or

JOHNSON: like would you consider her your girlfriend or

RAFFERTY: my girlfriend

JOHNSON: yeah

RAFFERTY: no (laugh)

JOHNSON: no

RAFFERTY: no I wouldn’t consider but her mom jokingly said that

yesterday surprisingly enough her mom was like ah it’s Terri-

Lynne’s boyfriend I was like I don’t think so

JOHNSON: right like is there any has there been anything between you and

Terri-Lynne uh intimately at all

RAFFERTY: we’re friend we’re friends

getting all kinds of information

RAFFERTY: um hmm

JOHNSON: tips rumours stuff like that

RAFFERTY: um hmm

JOHNSON: okay we’re hearing the thing about the drug debts we’re

hearing all kinds of stuff different names have been ah coming

in as lookalikes

RAFFERTY: um hmm

JOHNSON: okay and we have heard Terri-Lynne’s name okay

RAFFERTY: um hmm

JOHNSON: as a person that kinda looks similar
