If libraries aspire to “…nourish new kinds of knowledge producers, social innovators, and citizens who establish

alternative paths to opportunity and social

mobility” (Watkins), libraries must continually be aware of the ways they

function as sponsors of multiple forms of literacy

through regular action and reflection.
