Is this a test?!

Not really, it’s more of an aide to revision for your City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance & Crosscutting assessment. The questions here are designed to ensure that you are ready to answer the questions that you are likely to come across during your assessment.

Try to answer as many as you can without looking - for those you are not sure about either look up the answer in:

[Question 17] With the depth gauges, what would happen to the difference in height after the chain has been sharpened several times, and the depth gauges had not been touched? Think about what the effect this might have.

If the depth gauges have been lowered too far, then the difference in height between the cutting edge and the top of the depth gauge will be much larger than it should. Think about the effect that this might have.

DRIVELINK TRAINING Drivelink Training provides training and assessment for a variety of City & Guilds NPTC forestry and arboriculture units. Training covers the ground-based units from basic chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting, through felling to emergency tree works, dealing with windblown trees and assisted tree felling; as well as the aerial units including tree climbing and aerial rescue, aerial cutting and rigging / dismantling trees. Other units also include brushwood chippers, MEWP operations and brushcutters / trimmers.
