3rd Annual Friendly Fires BBQ Competition

Kawartha Division Sponsors - Friendly Fires, Napoleon Grills Categories – Pork Back Ribs Open to – All Location – Friendly Fires – 981 Highway 7 (Lansdowne St.) East, Peterborough Ontario Date – Saturday July 26th, 2014 Number of teams will be limited to the first 20 teams with completed applications and entry fees paid ($50). Each team limited to four (4) members. All applications must be received no later than July 11th, 2014. This is a non-sanctioned event. Prizes:

1st – Napoleon Pro605 Charcoal Grill ($1000 value) 2nd – Napoleon Travel Q ($200 value) 3rd - Friendly Fires gift certificate ($50 value)

Contest Details Each team is required to bring their own BBQ or smoker (charcoal, wood or propane) Each team is required to bring their own sauce, rubs and spices. These items can be pre-

made and brought to the competition site. Each team is required to bring their own tents, tables, chairs, etc required for set up in

their cooking area – last year was really hot in the sun so come prepared for the weather Each team is required to bring their own cooking utensils, chopping boards, Tupperware

containers, coolers, sanitary wipes etc Teams must attend the Instructional Meeting hosted by the competition’s Head Judge.

This meeting will review the rules and regulations of the competition as well as discuss how to prepare the ribs for proper presentation.

Friendly Fires will provide each team with 2- 3 (tbd) racks of pork back ribs Friendly Fires will provide each team with a Presentation Box (styrofoam container) for

their turn-in. Each team must turn in a minimum of six (6) ribs. No garnish allowed in the Presentation Box. Ribs turned in with garnish accompanying

them will be disqualified from the competition. Each judge will score the rib entries out of 100 potential points. The Appearance Score

will account for up to 20 points. The Texture/Tenderness Score will account for up to 30 points. The Taste Score will account for up to 50 points.

Teams are responsible for ensuring that their cooking area is tidy for the duration of the competition as well as bagging all garbage for pick up before leaving the event. Teams must dispose of all charcoal properly. Event Management will have bins onsite to ensure this is looked after safely.

All teams must supply their own working fire extinguisher at their booth. Access to electrical can be provided but teams must provide their own extension cords

to reach the outlets on our building.
