THEDepartment of Trade and Industry (Dti)has published regulations for the removal ofAdverse Credit Information, which as ofApril 2014 indicated that all adverse infor-mation of a consumer who had paid up theirdebt be removed from credit bureaux.
Siphamandla Kumkani, Dti Director forCredit Law and Policy, said the regulationapplies to people considered to be slow pay-ers, defaulters, those who have absconded,those who are not contactable, or accountswhich had been handed over to lawyers forlegal action. Credit bureaux are required toremove such information from the paymentprofile of the consumer.“We encourage people to consult credit bu-
reaux and credit providers to negotiate newpayment terms and continue paying andhonouring their debts,” said Kumkani.In respect of paid-up judgements, the gov-
ernment is saying that the credit bureauxare required, upon receipt of proof of settle-ment of the judgement, to remove that judge-ment from their records within seven days.“In terms of the new regulations, consum-
ers are no longer required to go to court tohave their judgement removed and also towait for more than five years to be clearedas per the previous legislation,” he said.Dti Minister Rob Davies, said last month

THE Deputy Minister of Water and Environ-mental Affairs, Rejoice Mabudafhasi, lastweek officially switched on the water supplyfrom the standpipes envisaged to deliver wa-ter to 343 people at Mhlahlane locality in Wil-lowvale.
During the year 2012, Chief Nolusapho Mg-webi wrote to the Deputy Minister reportingthat her administrative area, composed offour villages (Mente, Mhlahlane, Mamfeneniand Nkonkwane), had no access to water andthat they were solely dependent on a handpump which was not reliable.
“In response to Chief Mgwebi’s request Igave a directive to the Department of WaterAffairs’ Eastern Cape Regional Office to ad-dress the water challenges in this area,” shesaid.
According to her, the intervention includedfixing a borehole in Mhlahlane Village, 43 Jo-jo tanks for water harvesting and reticulatingwater from the borehole to standpipes, bring-ing water closer to the people of Mhlahlane.
Mabudafhasi said this would serve as ashort term intervention to deliver water toMhlahlane village, while they were waitingfor the long term solution that would also cov-er the other three villages (Mamfeneni,Nkonkwane and Mente) in this administra-tion area.
She added that the entire Mhlahlane ad-ministrative area would get a water supplyin RDP standards in October 2016 after com-pletion of the Phase three of the Ibika CentaneBulk Water Scheme.
“An amount of R104 million has been com-mitted through a Regional Bulk Infrastruc-ture Grant (RBIG) and Municipal Infrastruc-
ture Grant (MIG) to complete Phase three ofthis project. “We asssure you that after thecompletion of Phase three of the Ibika Cen-tane Bulk Scheme, all the people of Mhlahlane
will have access to clean water.”One of the community members, Lungile
Giyo said they were very happy about theDeputy Minister’s initiative. “Life was very
hard for us because we were drinking dirtywater from the river. Now we will always getfresh and purified water. We are very proudof what our chief did for us.”

THE Mthatha dam tourism and recreationalcentre, costing R29,5 million, has been launchedwith the aim of enhancing tourism in the area.
The centre was launched last Wednesday bythe Deputy Minister of Water and Environmen-tal Affairs, Rejoice Mabudafhasi, alongside KingSabata Dalindyebo Municipality Mayor, Non-koliso Ngqongwa.
The project was officially handed over to theEastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency at theevent.
“The implementation of the project has result-ed in a long list of improvements and upgrades,such as bulk water services, management ofwaste water, a parking area, restaurant and therefurbishment of the entrance gate to the Lucha-ba Nature Reserve. All these will help boost tour-ism in the area,” said Mabudafhasi.
She said they could safely and proudly say thatthe KSD was moving in the right direction interms of developing infrastructure whichwould, in turn, create jobs for locals.
KSD Mayor Ngqongwa appreciated the re-sponse they had received from the departmentto develop the area.
“We had an idea of developing our tourismsites and we knew the Mthatha Dam had that po-tential.
“We’ve requested assistance from the depart-ment to develop the area to enhance residents’lifestyles and to create jobs in the process,” saidthe Mayor.
KwaLink location Sub-Headlady, NobantuDladla, said this project had already created jobsfor many of the local youths and they hoped it
would create even more job opportunitiesduring its operation.
The additional plans include the con-
struction of chalets, camp sites and the ex-tension of current services like waste wa-ter, electricity and water. The project
should be completed over the next threeyears and approximately 200 job opportu-nities will be created.

Eskom spent R1 million from the Eskomfoundation to build this Centre.During the handover Eskom’s Eastern

centre. All of this started when the local com-munity allowed us to build one of our sub-sta-tions here. We are appealing to you to takecare of this centre because it belongs to youas the community.”The Portfolio Head for the Department of

This announcement was made by thebranch manager of the Centane Boxer Su-perstores, SomilaXabanisa, duringahando-ver ceremony held at the centre last week.He said they would donate R500 per
month over twelve months which would beused to feed 40 children at the centre, andfor cleaning equipment for six months.“Wedecided to support this pre-school be-
cause they also support our Superstore inCentane,” said Xabanisa.He said Boxer’s management was always
encouragingBoxer staffmembers to ensurethat they involve themselves in helping thecommunity, because they were supportedby community members.During the handover, the store also sup-

A YOUNG lady from Elliotdale, NomgcoboBuhlungu, has fulfilled her dreamof owninga restaurant and cooking forVery ImportantPeople (VIP’s) when there are special eventsin Elliotdale and surrounding areas.
She owns a catering company called Zim-sophi Trading Enterprise, which she startedin 2009.
Nomgcobo said catering was living in herheart and she always tries her best to ensurethe food she cooks will only make her cus-tomers ask for more.
She said when she is cooking she makessure that she wakes up at 3 o’clock in themorning to start cooking samp and rice.They peel the vegetables the previous after-noon.
“My ingredients depend on the number ofpeople that I amcooking for. But Imake surethatmy foodhas taste at all times so that peo-ple cannot regret buying my food,” she said.
Samp ingredients(Serves 4 people)Samp, beans, four jugs of water, aromat
and saltChicken curry ingredients4 pieces of chicken, spices, 1 green, red and
yellow pepper, 1 onion, quarter mug of cook-ing oil, and half a cup of water.
MethodSamp. Firstly pour your samp in a bowl with
cold water and beans.. Wash the mix and after that put it in the
pot.. Pour water and put it on the hot stove.. Leave it to boil for some hours until the
mix becomes soft.. Season with salt and Aromat.. Turn down the temperature.. Stir ingredients together and leave for
about 20 minutes.. During cooking check and stir until in-
gredients are cooked together.. After 30 minutes the samp is ready to be
served.Chicken curry. Put cooking oil into the pot and place it
on the stove. Heat on temperature of 6.. Wait for oil to be hot then add chopped
onions and peppers.. While the ingredients are sizzling, add
your spices and stock cube.. Stirwell, then add the 4 pieces of chicken.. Wait for chicken to blend with the ingre-
dients by stirring ingredients together.. Add ½ cup of water then wait for it to
boil. Stir meat and wait for about 30-35 min-utes until it’s nice.
. Then it is ready to be served with samp,
rice and pap.. This dish can also be served with veggies
and salads that you like.

THE Msobomvu netball team showed thattheyare a teamtobe reckonedwithwhen theybeat Magxaki Village 30-6 during the gamesheld at Nqadu Great Place in Willowvale re-cently.
The Msobomvu team took home R5 000prize money and new netball kit while Magx-aki, from Butterworth, left with R1 200.There were eight netball teams that partici-
pated which was a record number for thesegames. Netball was not featured when thegames were initiated but the organisers feltthat they should also be invited to take part.The soccer final was played by Willowvale
teams for the first time since the beginningof the tournament. The teams were GcalekaAces FC and Willowvale Legends FC. Leg-
ends became the victors of the tournament bybeating Aces 1-0.Willowvale Legends FC took home R10 000
and the new soccer kit while Gcaleka Aceswon R5 000 and the new kit.According to Police Spokesperson, Captain
Jackson Manatha, Butterworth SAPS Clus-ter, Amathole Safety and Liaison departmentand Mbhashe Municipality sponsored thenew kit for the netball and soccer winners.“The Msobomvu Netball team is the pride
of theMsobomvuSAPSCluster Safety andLi-aison division after coming second at the Ste-ve Tshwete Provincial games that was heldin Aliwal North recently,” he said.

Since the sporting event has became anannual fixture, the King has committedR10 000 towards the games of football andnetball. The teams who partipated thisyear came from surrounding towns aswell as from as far as the Western Cape.King Sigcau said the aim of the tourna-ment was to keep the youth busy duringlong weekends so that they do not get in-volved in criminal activities.
According to the Chairperson of the Lo-calOrganizingCommittee (LOC),Momele-ziMbombo, the aimof the tournamentwasto educate the youth about the seriousnessof committing crime.“Also represented at the event were
