WHAT IS INTERNET DEFAMATION?• Generally, defamation is a false and

unprivileged statement of fact that is harmful to someone's reputation, and published "with fault", meaning as a result of negligence or malice.

• State laws often define defamation in specific ways. Libel is a written defamation; slander is a spoken defamation.

THE ELEMENTS OF A DEFAMATION

1.a publication to one other than the person defamed;

2.a false statement of fact;3.tending to harm the reputation of the

person

• We did a research called «The Internet Defamation Conciousness of Our School» in order to describe the internet habits and the thoughts of our school friends about the internet defamation.

• We designed a questionnaire and 40 students from our school replied it.

• 20 students: 7th grade (12-13 years old) 20 students: 8th grade (13-14 years old)

Some replies:• Someone hacked my account and posted very

disgusting things.• A girl from our school took my photo and posted it on

facebook without asking me. I didn’t like that photo.• My cousin and brother once tried to hack the social

media accounts of some people. But they couldn’t.• Someone wrote swears and humiliating words to me

using messenger of facebook.

ResultsWe can say that,• Most of the students have got mobile phone,PC,

tablet, etc.• Most of the students have got internet connection at

their home.• Half of them do not connect internet everyday.• Half of them says they have got information about

internet defamation.• But the results show that their knowledge about

internet defamation is limited.

Suggestions

In order to enhace their knowledge about internet defamation:• We can arrange seminars about internet defamation.• We can distribute hand-outs about internet

defamation.• We can arrange a quiz show about internet

defamation.
