WHAT IS x86???

The term x86 refers to a family of instruction set architectures based on the Intel 8086 CPU. The 8086 was launched in 1978 as a fully 16-bit extension.  The term x86 derived from the fact that early successors to the 8086 also had names ending in "86".

x86 is designed by Intel in 1978 and the designe was given by CICS.

x86 is a Register-memory processor that can encode variables upto 1 to 15 bytes.

It is available in 16 bits,32 bits and 64 bits registers.

INTEL 8086

The 8086 (also called iAPX86) is a 16-bit microprocessor chip designed by Intel between early 1976 and mid-1978, when it was releasedThe 8086 was sequenced

using a mixture of random logic and microcode and was implemented using depletion-load nMOS circuitry with approximately 20,000 active transistors (29,000 counting all ROM and PLA (sites).

PRODUCTS DISCRIPTION

EMBEDED PROCESSORS:-Embeded Processors are of two types (a) ordinary

microprocessors and (b) microcontrollers, having many peripherals on single chip reducing size and cost.

MOBILE PROCESSORS:- It is a CPU designed to save power. It is found in mobile

computers and cellphones. A CPU chip designed for portable computers, it is typically housed in a smaller chip package, but more importantly, in order to run cooler, it uses lower voltages than its desktop counterpart and has more "sleep mode" capability.

CAR SECURITY SYSTEM:-Intel car security system works by streaming vedios to cloud

service if your car is broken into

MARKET SHARE

Intel's market capitalization is $122.41 billion (Feb. 22, 2011).

According to IDC, while Intel still enjoys the most market share in both

the overall worldwide PC microprocessor market (79.3%) and the

mobile PC microprocessor (84.4%) in the second quarter of 2011, the

numbers decreased by 1.5% and 1.9% compared to the first quarter

INTEL CORE i3 vs i5 vs i7

Features of intel core i3(1) Uses 4 threads. Yes, it uses hyperthreading

technology which is the latest craze due to its improved efficiency over earlier processors that were put on the market.

(2)This processor consists of 2-4 cores, depending on which one you get your hands on.

(3)Contains A 3-4 MB Cache(4)Uses less heat and energy than earlier

processors, which is always a good thing in this day and age.

Page 17: intel ppt made by mr.C veer singh

INTEL CORE i3 vs i5 vs i7

Features of intel core i5(1) This is the mid-size processor of this bunch, recommended for

those who demand a little speed, but not quite enough where the user will be running resource-intensive applications.

(2) As with the Core i3 processor, this comes with 2-4 cores, the main difference is that it has a higher clock speed than the Core i3.

(3) This is also a heat and energy efficient processor, but it does seem to be better at this particular job than the Core i3 processor.

(4 ) The number of threads used in this is no different than the Core i3 with 2-4 threads, and it also uses hyperthreading technology for a boost in performance.

(5) The cache of the Core i5 is bigger than the Core i3, it’s at 3-8 MB.

(6) The Core i5 is where the turbo mode is made available, this provides users with the opportunity to turn off a core if it’s not being utilized.

Page 18: intel ppt made by mr.C veer singh

INTEL CORE i3 vs i5 vs i7

Features of intel core i7(1) This is for the users that demand power, yes it

does provide more power and if Tim Allen gets one of these, this would be the beast that he gets his hands on. Great for gamers and other resource intensive users.

(2) The cache on this one is 4-8 MB.(3) This processor comes with 8 threads, definitely

enough to get the job done quickly, maybe even at the speed of light if you’re lucky.  And yes it also utilizes hyperthreading technology.

(4) And just like the other ones in this Intel series of processors, it is more energy efficient and produces less heat.

INTEL XEON PROCESSOR

The Xeon is a brand of multiprocessing- or multi-socket-capable x86 microprocessors  from Intel Corporation targeted at the non-consumer server,workstation and embedded system markets.Intel has been making xeon processors since 1998. And in 2011 intel launches three new processors in market i.e. 3000,5000 and 7000 series.Xeon processors are primarily used in servers.

Page 20: intel ppt made by mr.C veer singh

INTEL XEON PROCESSOR

(1) 7000 series:-This series is mainly designed for servers and the 2011 model is 7100 which can handle upto 4 operating systems threads at same time. The 7100 is a 64-bit processor. It can operate at speeds up to 3.4GHz, and has up to 16MB of L3 cache.

Page 21: intel ppt made by mr.C veer singh

INTEL XEON PROCESSOR

(2) 5000 series:- The latest edition of intel xeon 5000 is 5600, it utilizes 32 nm technology, which automatic adjusts server performance and regulates power consumption.5600 processors range from 1.8 ghz to 3.3 ghz and have 12 mb of L3 cache includes Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) providing hardware based protection to system attacks by malicious softwares.

Page 22: intel ppt made by mr.C veer singh

INTEL XEON PROCESSOR

(3) 3000 series:- The Intel Xeon 3000 Series for servers includes the 3400, designed for entry-level servers. The processors use DDR3 memory with Error Correcting Code (ECC) supported up to 1333MHz .It supports up to 8GB/s bandwidth, resulting in low latency and faster speed than PCI or PCI-X adapters.

BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTEL AND AMD

(1) The main difference between AMD and Intel processors are that AMD processors have a 10 step execution process which doesn't allow as fast of a clock but AMD's counter that by being able to do more operations per clock cycle. Intels on the other hand have a 20 step execution proccess which allows much higher clock speeds but they have fewer operations per clock.

(2) Another difference between the processors are the sockets they use. AMD's generally use Socket A (462 pins) while Intel generally uses Socket 478 (478 pins).

Page 24: intel ppt made by mr.C veer singh

BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTEL AND AMD

(3) Other differences include supported chip sets, AMD motherboards generally use SIS, VIA, or N force chip sets while Intel motherboards use Intel, SIS, and most recently ATI chip sets.

(4) AMD is a favorite for over clockers because with minor modifications the FSB multiplier can be unlocked while Intel multipliers cannot be unlocked (Not to say that AMD is used exclusively by over clockers, because it is not, but this ability to be unlocked is a plus). Also as of now Intel processors have the largest L3 cache at 2mb while the largest for AMD is 1mb.
