Installing Microsoft Lync on your (Windows) Home PC

Setup and Download

1 Download the Lync installer appropriate for your PC

Windows 7/8

Windows XP (Lync 2010 must be used for Win XP)

2 Run the installer by double clicking on it.

3 Click “Install Now”

4 Launch Lync via the Lync icon in the Start Button under Microsoft Office 2013 or Lync 2013.

5 When Lync starts, enter your email address under “Sign-In address”, then click “Sign In”

6 Lync will then ask you for your username and password. Enter your county network ID in the

form of CORE\xxxx1, type in your password, and click “Sign In”

7 By default, Microsoft Lync will automatically start and log in when windows starts up. If you are

installing Lync on a computer that is used by other people, you may want to disable this feature.

To disable autostart, use the following instructions:

With Lync open and logged in, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner

Click on the “Personal” tab on the left, and uncheck the box next to “Automatically start

Lync…”

Click “OK”

Lync will no longer automatically open when Windows starts up.
