Remove the doors,drawers and hardware tomake everything easier.

2. CLEANING

CLEAN THE SURFACE

SANDING

Evaluate the surface ofthe piece that you’d like to

paint. For furniture thathas badly chipped paint

or rough edges, get somefine grit sandpaper and

start sanding until allsurfaces are nice and

smooth

Thoroughly clean thecabinets with a spongeand denatured alcohol toremove any traces of dirtand grease, getting intoany nooks and crannies.Denatured alcohol emitsfumes, so be sure theroom is well ventilated.Let the surface air-dry.

Apply a coat of prime andlet the cabinet dry. The

drying time usually variesbetween 1 and 4 hours.

PAINTING

The better the brush, thebetter the finish. Don'trush this part -- you'llneed two or three thincoats in order to achievea fine finish. Thin coatscreate fewer brushstrokesand give better dryingtime and adhesion. Allowthe paint to dry for fourhours between coats.

PRIME THE SURFACE

REMOVE EXCESS PIGMENT

Use a second, cleanbrush to remove excesspigment -- you canremove as little or asmuch as you want. (Thisis called a negativetechnique.) Wipe off thebrush with paper towelsas you work. That's allthere is to it!
