How To Handle Rejection In Dating with herpes

If you told it to someone you care about and is suppose to care about you, but rejects you because of herpes virus, they don't deserve to be in your life.

I found out about my H status at the beginning of this month and the told the guy I had been dating for a year. We both exchanged the L word and talked about having a future together, kids, etc. but he rejected me..by cutting me off and ignoring my attempts to reach out to him. and we haven't spoke since. I'm still coping and do have my down days where I let my thoughts get the best of me.

You don't need to tell everyone. And if u do decide to (b/c sometimes we just need someone to talk to), use discernment. A true friend or someone that REALLY loves/cares about you, won't reject you, but will be supportive and try to understand.

Keep dating, and you will find someone who wants to be with you regardless of your condition. There are certainly some who wouldn't mind keeping the intimacy level just short of doing things that could transmit the virus. And of those people, it's likely that at least one will come around, and say, "Hey, I understand there's a risk, but I'm crazy about you, so I'm willing to take it."

Depending on your dating style, you might look for another person who knows he or she has herpes, if only to avoid having to discuss it. If you already use dating services or personal ads, you can also use any online dating sites for people with herpes.  There are lots of online herpes dating sites.
