The Fun is light and well balanced, which makes this glider easy to launch and easy to land. A perfect glider for the novice, a must have for experienced pilots who want to put the fun back into their sport.

STING 3

154 and 168 Classed as our "recreational" glider the Sting 3 is for the pilot that desires good performance with exceptional climb and a glider that is still very easy to launch and land.

STING 2 XC

The Sting XC is fitted with faired king post, downtubes, speed bar and a VG system as standard. Classed as our "recreational" glider the Sting is for the experienced pilot that desire reasonable performance with exceptional climb. A glider that is still very easy to launch and land. Stings have a great name and hold their resale value, a very much sought after glider in the used market. Now that says something for the design!

CLIMAX C4

13, 13.5 and 14

If you have ever owned an Airborne glider you will know how much care has gone into the finished product. It is almost a pleasure to set up the glider each time (even if it's already on) just to see the CNC milled parts that fit so perfectly together. With the release of the C4 you will see we have gone a step further, the sail technology in this our latest high performance glider is unsurpassed. The C4-13, 13.5 and 14 are all a delight to fly. Superb handling in the loose setting and incredible performance in the VG on setting. Take the C4 for a test fly and be impressed.

Which Glider is right for You?


GUIDE TO ORDERING HANG GLIDERS

The prices lists detail alternatives and options available for each model. With the exception of hang gliders on the stock list each glider is built to order.

When a hang glider is ordered it is necessary to specify the part number to: • Order one (and only one) item from each of the alternatives; and

• Order options (including packing) as required; and

• Order Accessories as required.

Details of any restrictions and/or prerequisites relating to each alternative or option are included in the notes associated with each part.

Airborne Sales staff will be able to assist with the ordering process if required.

Note that freight prices are not included in the price list as the actual cost varies considerably from week to week due to changing fuel prices. A fixed freight charge will be determined at the time the quotation for the aircraft is prepared.

Step One - Quotation

One you have decided on a particular model use the detailed price list for that model to select the part numbers for the alternative and options that you wish to order. The notes in the pricelist provide details of the applicability of the part numbers.

If you are unsure of the required colours at this stage then use the part number for the TBA (to be advised) colour for the hang glider.

Your list of requirements will be used to prepare a formal quotation for the supply of your hang glider. The quotation will include:

• A quote number, (starting with Q) that should be referenced in all correspondence relating to the quote; and

• Fixed price for supply of the hang glider; and

• Fixed price for shipping and freight; and

• A period of time for which the quotation will be valid (Expiry Date); and

• An indication of the available production slots for the hang glider.

Step Two – Production Slot Allocation Once you have decided to accept the quotation then a deposit of 50 percent of the order value is required to secure a production slot.

Deposits can be paid by bank transfer to the Airborne account (as detailed on the quotation) or by credit card using the Quote number for reference.

Step Three – Customer Order Once the production slot allocation deposit has been paid the quote will be turned into an order and the price and production slot will be locked in. The hang glider build date will also be confirmed.

If you are still unsure of the required colours then the part number for the TBA (to be advised) colour for the hang glider can still be used.

It is important to confirm the hang glider and the build date is correct, as soon as the customer order is received. Please use the Customer Order Number, (starting with C) in all correspondence relating to the customer order.


If a customer wishes the delay the delivery of the hang glider more than fours weeks prior to the aircraft build date then this may be possible depending on the current production schedule. Airborne reserves the right to review the pricing on a customer order where such a delay is requested.

All details of the Customer Order including colours and any options built into the glider must be finalised four weeks prior to the aircraft build date.

Orders cancelled more than fours weeks prior to the hang glider build date will incur a production slot cancellation fee as follows.

Step Four – Build Complete and Shipping

Full payment must be made prior to shipping.

Any changes to the customer order in the four-week period prior to the aircraft build date may incur an extra charge if it entails removal of an item that has been installed e.g micro drag down tubes.


CLIMAX HANG GLIDERS

COMPETITIVE PERFORMANCE

The C4 is one of the most advanced high performance topless hang gliders on the market.

Attention to detail and weight saving has allowed the C4 to have excellent static balance.

A larger than average VG range provides the C4 with ease of handling and a large flare window without compromising outstanding glide performance throughout the speed range.

The C4 has an elliptical tip, which in the VG full setting allows a very tight mainsail whilst maintaining a progressive washout line right through to the tip.

AirBorne’s original cam VG system has been improved allowing an increase in VG travel. Not only does the wing pull exceptionally flat when full on, the VG off setting is quite loose resulting in extremely light handling and improved climb ability. There are several advantages using the cam VG system. The drag in the pulley actuating system and lack of movement in the high load junctions allow for much lower operating pressures. The cam VG system also maintains constant anhedral, which significantly reduces glider oscillation throughout the VG range.

A combination of internal cloth ribs and hook and loop fastener tabs between the upper and lower battens control the under surface blow down at lower angles of attack. Not only does this minimise glider oscillation, the resulting pitch pressure is progressive and predictable.

Wire braced washout tubes (sprogs) are used in the C4. The centre sprog has a compensating system, which causes the sprog to raise approximately 120 mm when the VG is released.

Certification pitch testing has confirmed the stability of the system with excellent pitching moment results throughout the VG range.

The C4 is easy to assemble and pack up. It may be set up on the A-frame or laid flat, accommodating for personal preference or site characteristics and restrictions. Pip pins and quick clips are used with integrated clip battens to speed up assembly. The sprog tubes are secured by simply closing the zips. Easy operating internal tip levers are used to load the tip rods.

STING 2 175 XC

TRIED AND PROVEN

The idea behind the development of the Sting II was simple. The glider had to be quick to set up, fun to fly and it had to look good.

The Sting is an all rounder, designed for the pilot who enjoys a combination of coastal and inland flying. Launch and landing is easy due to the glider’s excellent static balance. Even scratching is made easy because of the Sting’s light handling and small turning circle.

The Sting airfoil design is unique, giving a gentle stall with positive feedback to the pilot. The glider has unsurpassed stability with a strong tendency to return to trim. This leaves the pilot feeling secure even in the roughest turbulence.

The Sting may be set up on the A-Frame or laid flat, thereby accommodating for personal preference or site characteristics and restrictions.

The Sting has a minimum number of battens, whilst maintaining solid airfoil definition. This, coupled with the quick clips, pip pins and airframe geometry has resulted in an extremely fast set-up. The Sting was engineered so that it was of minimum weight with maximum strength.

The Sting XC is fitted with faired king post, downtubes, speed bar and VG System as standard. It is for the pilot that desires reasonable performance with exceptional climb. A glider that is still very easy to launch and land.

STING 3 HANG GLIDERS

PERFORMANCE FLYING FOR FUN

Classed as our "recreational" glider the Sting III is for the pilot that desires good performance with exceptional climb. A glider that is still very easy to launch and land.

Flying the new Sting III, the things that stand out about the flying characteristics are:

• The very much improved glide performance.

• Ease of steering with the VG on.

• Great handling at low speed, maintaining maneuverability and controllability, making it a very nimble yet stable glider to climb in thermals.

The Sting III has an increased range of travel on the VG system. Landing the Sting is fun, with great low speed handling authority right up to an easy flare and touch down.

The Sting III has a new luff curve at the heart of the design meaning that the sail has been entirely redesigned. Looking at the sail, the most recognisable difference is the undersurface layout and the increased amount of undersurface, particularly at the tips to improve the high speed glide performance.

The Sting is constructed using 7075 airframe, standard fittings include faired king post and downtubes, round speed bar, and VG system.

FUN HANG GLIDERS

FROM DUNE TO THERMAL IT’S ALL EASY ON THE FUN

The philosophy behind the development of the Fun was to design a glider that is lightweight, strong, and sets up quickly. The glider also needed to be easy to fly, take off and land.

We believe that we have succeeded in all aspects of our design parameters.

Landing is one of the best features of the Fun. The Fun is statically balanced with the control bar top well rearward whilst still allowing the glider to be assembled flat on the ground. Moving the top of the control bar back improves the static balance and also improves the flair authority.

7075-T6 aluminium is used in the airframe construction of the Fun. The battens are also made from 7075-T6 aluminium that require almost no maintenance. The overall result is a very strong glider with minimum weight. Pitch stability has been achieved using a split reflex bridle system and washout rods to minimise drag.
