HOLIDAYS HOMEWO RK (2015-16) L.K.G.
Dear Parent, A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Start your child’s day early and set their routine, even during vacations. Vacations are the most appropriate time for the students to refresh and rejuvenate themselves. Vacations give a chance to the children to showcase their best performance as they have ample time and enough energy to get the best out of themselves.
1. Try using these phrases in day to day life. Good Morning!
How do you do? I am fine, thank you. May I come in? I am hungry. May I have something to eat? May I go to play? What is the time? Please, may I take this? You are welcome.
2. ENCOURAGE CONVERSATION IN ENGLISH (SMALL SENTENCES) A. Let the child introduce himself / herself with the help of questions
given below.
a) What is your name? My name is _______________________
b) Are you a girl or a boy? I am a ____________
c) How old are you? I am ___________years old.
B. "I LOVE MY FAMILY"
a) What is your father's name?
b) What is your mother's name?
c) How many sisters do you have?
d) How many brothers do you have?
3. WALK TOGETHER
Take your child for daily walk to make him/ her realise that all of us have
two of God's greatest gifts "NATURE & OUR FAMILY" Do not forget to
thank God for these gifts.
Teach your child this prayer-
Thank you God for the World so sweet,
Thank you God for the birds that sing,
Thank you God for the food we eat,
Thank you God for everything.
4. CULTIVATE MANNERS
Remember the 4 magic words. Please, thank you, sorry and excuse
me. Encourage your child to use these words in day to day life.
5. Help your child become caring human being by developing the following habits like: Wishing and welcoming guests. Spending time with grandparents. Giving respect to his/her elders and loving his/her younger ones. Keeping the house clean. Helping you in arranging dining table. After eating, keeping his/her plate in the kitchen. Arranging his/her toy shelf. Watering the plants. Taking care of pets. (In case, you have any).
6. You may take your child for outings to these places Railway Station Take time out and visit an ORPHANAGE, home for the aged and explain to them
about those places Take them to your HOMETOWN / village and let them spend time with their
grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins. Let them experience the affection and good times of being with the family. Show them what is Agriculture / Farming and the difficulties a farmer goes through in providing the food that we are eating and that we should not waste food.
Take them to all the PLACES of WORSHIP without restricting to any single place. Take them to Temple, Mosque, Gurudwara, Church etc.
7. English Revision of capital letters E, F, H, L, I, T should be done 10 times. To be done in 2 in
1 notebook. Neatness accuracy in written work should be emphasized. Capital Letters – E, F, H, L, I, T to be done in Supplementary book. Practice all the concepts done in the notebook
o Match the same letters o Circle the letter o Colour the picture that begins with the letter
Children love listening to stories. Read stories aloud to them regularly. Help the children to talk about the pictures. Some suggested books are o Lady bird series o Bubbles series o Bruno series
8. Math Practice to read and Write numbers 1, 4, 7, 9, 10 in 2 in 1 notebook 10 times Practice all the concepts done in the notebook
o Match the same numbers o Circle and colour the number
9. Art & craft
Engage the child in following activities for enhancement of fine motor skills: colouring within a given framework playing with clay or play dough sorting of pulses, buttons or beads scribbling on newspaper Do colouring pages 2 to 12 from Look n colour

English Recitation Competition Prepare your child for English Recitation Competition to be held in the month of July. Please stress on correct pronunciation, clarity of speech, voice modulation etc. Use of props is permitted to make the presentation more interesting. Rhyme should be out of the syllabus.
