The earth absorbs the solar energy and transforms it into longer wavelength radiation or heat. Heat is absorbed by molecules of greenhouse gases and emitted at shorter wavelength radiation. Maintains the earths temperature. Human activity puts large quantities of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere
