Exploring Science- Explore research opportunities in India Research is a way of learning. Govt. of India offers ample research opportunities to the students with attractive working environment. These research laboratories and universities are supported by Govt. of India through various department i.e. DST, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, ICAR, DAE, etc. Additionally more than 20 Central Universities, 19 NITs, 9 IITs, 6 IIITs, 5 IISER, 6 NIPER, 1IISc, 1 NISER, cover wide range of innovative topics with research projects and offer students the opportunity to earn their PhD, Post-Doctorate degree in structured programmes with interdisciplinary curriculum. They also provide short term courses, Training programmes, National/International conferences, Seminars, Symposia, workshops to upgrade the academics, students as well as professionals. Besides Central universities there is huge number of public and private sector universities present in our country those also provide state of art research facility to the student to pursue their PhD / Post Doctorate programme. To qualify for admission to PhD, you must have completed a masters degree from a recognized university and requisite criteria as per different institution. Each individual Research institution/University selects its own candidate. Govt. of India has no central procedure for admission or for awarding stipends to PhD candidates. CSIR conducts the National Eligibility Test (NET) twice a year; ICMR (NET) is conducted once a year, DBT-NET is conducted once a year to select Research Scholars (JRF) for their research laboratories and also for different universities. Different central universities and institutions have their individual Research eligibility test (URET) to select PhD Scholars. • Take advantages of latest discoveries of science • Benefit of multidisciplinary training • Discover new concept and ways of thinking • Work together with highly motivated and talented faculties from different

backgrounds. • Have a access to state of the art research facilities The tradition of Science and Technology (S & T) in India is over 5000 years old. A renaissance was witnessed in the first half of the 20th century. The S&T infrastructure has grown up from about Rs.10 million at the time of independence in 1947 to Rs. 30 billion. Significant achievements have been made in the areas of nuclear and space
