This software can be used with any of thefollowing controllers once they have been pairedwith the console.
Pairing Controllers
From the HOME Menu,select Controller Settingsto display the screenshown to the right.Select Pair, and thenfollow the on-screen instructions to pair thecontroller.
◆ In two-player mode, you will need two controllers(additional accessories sold separately).
◆ Only one Wii U GamePad controller can be used.
◆ A Wii Remote™ Plus controller can be used instead ofa Wii Remote controller.
This game supports 5.1-channel linear PCMsurround sound. In order to experience surroundsound, select (System Settings) from the Wii UMenu, choose the TV item, and then change theaudio-output type to Surround.
◆ In order to experience surround sound with thissoftware, you will need to connect your Wii U consolewith a receiver that has a built-in HDMI™ port using aHigh Speed HDMI Cable. For more information abouthow to configure and connect your receiver, see theinstruction manual for the receiver.

Delete
You can delete save data by pressing while onthe file-selection screen.
Game data is automatically saved after importantevents, such as clearing a level.
Be careful when deleting data. Deleted data cannot berecovered.

Time Attack
Race to reach the end of a level as fast as youcan! Before you begin, you can select which typeof Kong Barrel you'll find on your way and checkyour current ranking for the level.
◆ Time Attack is only available in one-player mode andon levels that have already been conquered.
◆ On levels with multiple Slot Machine Barrels, yourgoal is the regular one and not the hidden one.
◆ If you select Offline in the Time Attack options, youwill not be able to upload records or view theleaderboards.
Start Menu
When you select a course, the start menu isdisplayed. Select Play Level to proceed to thecourse.
Options
You can change various settings, such as volumeand controller selections. You can also switch theGamePad controls between the Left Stick () andthe +Control Pad (). You can also switch thegame screen between the TV and GamePad, andchange the number of players.
Inventory
You can take up to three items into a level withyou. Once you select the items, return to the startmenu and select Play Level.
◆ Unused items will return to the inventory.◆ Some items cannot be taken into certain levels or
used in certain modes.

Battle across numerous islands while fighting offenemies, collecting bananas, and solving puzzlesas you go.
Checkpoint
◆ If you exit the level or lose a life with no Red Balloonsremaining, you will continue the game from thebeginning of the level.
Passing through a Checkpoint willallow you to continue from there,should you suffer an unfortunate fatelater in the level.

◆ If is shown, you'll receive a random item. If youshake the Wii Remote or Nunchuk™ controller, thenumber of items you receive will increase. If you areusing the Wii U GamePad with , press /repeatedly. If you are using the Wii U GamePad with, press / repeatedly.
The Slot Machine Barrel is yourobjective. Hitting it will clear the level,and you'll also receive whatever itemis displayed on it.

Press to openthe pause menu.Here you canchange options,return to the islandmap, check the number of bananas youhave collected, and more.
Bonus Room
Collecting bananaspays off! You willreceive items forthe bananas youcollected within thetime limit. If you collected all the bananas inthe bonus room, you'll receive a PuzzlePiece!

The top hearts show Donkey Kong's health, andthe bottom hearts show the health of the partner.Taking damage in any way, be it from traps orenemy attacks, will decrease your health.
This is only displayed when you are in water, andit will decrease little by little while you aresubmerged. Be careful! If you run out of air, youwill start taking damage. You can restore the airmeter by touching bubbles, surfacing, or gettingout of the water entirely.
This meter fills up as you collect bananas .When it is full, you can unleash a Kong POW
against your foes.
◆ In one-player mode, damage taken will affect thepartner's health first. The partner will disappear if allhis or her health is lost.

You lose a life when you lose all of your health orfall into a pit. A Red Balloon will be usedto continue the game from the beginning of thelevel or the last Checkpoint.

Destroy a Kong Barrel to liberate thepartner inside, who then climbs ontoyour back automatically. Workingtogether, you'll now be capable ofperforming various joint actions

The meters are displayed individually for DonkeyKong and the partner, and unlike in one-playermode, the character who takes damage will be theone to lose health.
◆ If you take damage while the partner is on DonkeyKong's back, Donkey Kong and the partner will taketurns losing health. When underwater, they will shareone air meter.
You'll begin the game with a partner, and bothKongs can enjoy the adventure together.

Leave No Kong Behind!
If Donkey Kong and the partner areseparated by too great a distance, one ofthem may end up being pushed off thegame screen. If that happens, the onepushed off the screen will reappear next tothe partner after a short delay.
◆ If a character enters a Rocket Barrel or Barrel Cannon , the other characterwill automatically be moved to his or herlocation after a short delay.
If a character loses a life, that character willdisappear from the level. He or she can return tothe level at the cost of one Red Balloon, so longas the other character does not also lose a life. Ifboth characters lose a life and disappear from thelevel, it will take two Red Balloons for them tocontinue the game from either the beginning of thelevel or the Checkpoint.

To spend a Red Balloon and return tothe level, the player must press thebutton shown on the top-left side ofthe screen. The returning characterwill descend into the level in a KongBarrel floating from a Red Balloon.The other character must then touchthe Kong Barrel to free his or herbuddy.

This will fix you up if you've taken damage,restoring one heart.
Grab this to add a Red Balloon to your supply.
