Prayer 1O GENTLEST HEART OF JESUS

O Gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament,ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Pur-gatory, have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant. The Lord is my shepherd! I shall not want. He maketh me to liedown in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. Herestoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for hisname?s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadowof death I will fear no evil for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staffthey comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presenceof mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil My cup runnethover. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of mylife; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Prayer 723rd PSALM (Catholic)

I am home in heaven, dear ones;Oh, so happy and so bright!

There is perfect joy and beautyIn this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,Every restless tossing passed;

I am now at peace forever,Safely home in heaven at last.

There is still work waiting for you,So you must not idly stand;

Do it now, while life remaineth-You shall rest in God?s own land.When that work is all completed,

He will gently call you Home;Ah, the rapture of that meeting,Oh, the joy to see you come!

Prayer 30FOOTPRINTS

One night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beachwith the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. Fromeach scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one be-longed to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of mylife flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. Inoticed that many times along the path of my life there was only oneset of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowestand saddest times in my life. This really bothered me and I ques-tioned the Lord about it. ?Lord you said that once I decided tofollow you, you?d walk with me the rest of the way. But I havenoticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there isonly one set of footprints. I don?t understand why you left my sidewhen I needed you most.? The Lord replied, ?My precious child, Ilove you and I would never leave you. During your times of trialand suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was thenthat I carried you.?

Rose of the Cross, thou mystic flower,I left my heart to thee;

In every melancholy hour,O Mary, remember me.

Let me stand where thou hast stood,Beside the crimson tree;

And by the water and the blood,O Mary, remember me.

There let me wash my sinful soul,And be from sin set free;

Drawn by love, by grace made whole,O Mary, remember me.

?We have loved her dearly during life,let us not abandon her until we have

conducted her by our prayers into the house of the Lord.?St. Ambrose

Prayer 33 One day I would like to teach just a few people manyand beautiful things that would help them when they will one day

teach a few people.

Prayer 34WHEN I MUST LEAVE YOU

When I must leave you for a little while, please do not grieve andshed wild tears, and hug your sorrow to you through the years.

But start out bravely with a gallant smile; And for my sake and inmy name live on and do all things the same. Feed not your

loneliness on empty days, but fill each waking hour in usefulways. Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, and I in turnwill comfort you and hold you near. For I am waiting for you in

the sky!

Prayer 35I?M FREE

Don?t grieve for me, for now I?m free.I?m following the path God laid for me.I took His hand when I heard Him call.

I turned my back and I left it all.I could not stay another day

To laugh, to love, to work or play.Tasks left undone must stay that way.

I?ve found that peace at the close of day.If my parting has left a void.

Then fill it with remembered joy.A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,Ah, yes, these things I too shall miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow;I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life?s been full, I?ve savored much;Good friends, good times,

A loved one?s touch.Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;

Don?t lengthen it now with undue grief.Lift up your hearts and share with me;God wanted me now: He set me free.

Prayer 36GOD?S GARDEN

God looked around His Garden,And found an empty place.

He then looked down upon this earth,And saw your tired face.

He put His arms around youAnd lifted you to rest.

God?s garden must be beautiful,He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,He knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would neverGet well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting roughAnd the hills were hard to climbSo He closed your weary eyelids,And whispered, ?Peace be thine.?

It broke our hearts to lose youBut you didn?t go alone,

For part of us went with youThe day God called you home.

Prayer 37DO NOT STAND

Do not stand at my grave and weep;I am not there, I do not sleep,

I am a thousand winds that blow;I am the diamond glints on snow.I am the sunlight on ripened grain;

I am the gentle autumn rain.When you awaken in the mornings hush,

I am the swift uplifting rushOf quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft star that shines at night.Do not stand at my grave and cry.

I am not there; I did not die.

Prayer 38REMEMBER ME

To the living, I am gone;to the sorrowful, I will never return;

to the angry, I was cheated.But to the happy, I am at peace.

And to the faithful, I have never left.I cannot speak, but I can listen.

I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.So as you stand upon a shore

gazing at a beautiful sea-as you look upon a flower and admireit?s simplicity - REMEMBER ME.

Remember me in your heart,your thoughts, and your memoriesof the times we loved, the times we

cried, the times we fought, thetimes we laughed. For if you alwaysthink of me, I will never have gone.

Prayer 39AFTERGLOW

I?d like the memory of meto be a happy one.

I?d like to leave an afterglowof smiles when life is done.

I?d like to leave an echowhispering softly down the ways.

Of happy times and laughing timesand bright and sunny days.

I?d like the tears of those whogrieve to dry before the sun.

Of happy memories that I leavewhen life on earth is done.

Prayer 41GOD’S MASTERPIECE

MotherGod took the fragrance of a flower?

The majesty of a tree?The gentleness of morning dew?

The calm of a quiet sea?The beauty of the twilight hour?

The soul of a starry night?The laughter of the rippling brook?

The grace of a bird in flight?Then God fashioned from these things

a creation like no other?And when his masterpiece was through,

He called it simply ? MOTHER.

Prayer 42GOD’S MASTERPIECE

FatherGod took the strength of a mountain?

The majesty of a tree?The warmth of a summer sun?

The calm of a quiet sea?The generous soul of nature?The comforting arm of night?

The wisdom of the ages?The power of the eagle?s flight?

Then God combined these qualities,There was nothing more to add.

His masterpiece was now complete,He lovingly called it, DAD.

Prayer 43ONE MOTHER

You can only have one mother, patient, kind and true;No other friend in all the world, will be the same to you.

When other friends forsake you, to mother you will return.For all her loving kindness, she asks nothing in return.

As we look upon her picture,sweet memories we recall-

Of a face so full of sunshine,and a smile for one and all.

Sweet Jesus, take this message,to our dear mother up above.

Tell her how much we miss her-and give her all our love.

Prayer 44DAD

To have you for our DAD,Was cause enough for pride.No one could ever equal you,

No matter how they tried.You left us precious memories,You?re love is still our guide.Although we cannot see you,You are always by our side.

Prayer 45WEEP NOT

Weep not for me, when I am gone,I’ve lived my life, I’ve sung my song.

Known tears and laughter, sun and rain,a life that brought more joy then pain.I?ve been content with love so deep,

that peacefully, I’ll ever sleep.A love we shared with joy untold,

and kept me young, though I grew old.I?ve held my babies in my arms,

and felt the thrill of their sweet charms.Had many friends and family too,

that smoothed the wayas I passed through.

Weep not for me, when life is done,for I have been the richest one.I will go home, content to seethe One who gave it all to me.

Prayer 46TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME

When I am gone, release me, let me go, I have so many things tosee and do. You mustn?t tie yourself to me with tears

Be happy we had so many years. I gave you my love, you canonly guess How much you gave to me in happiness.

I thank you for the love we each have shownBut now it’s time I travel alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve

you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust.It?s only for a while that we must part

So bless the memories within your heart.I won?t be far away, for life goes on

So if you need me, call and I will come.Though you can?t see or touch me, I?ll be nearAnd if you listen with your heart you?ll hear

All my love around you soft and dear.And then, when you must come this way alone

I?ll greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home.”

Prayer 47‘Thank you Lord for seeing how weary I am, and letting me rest.

The pain is gone, the peace is beautiful. Your love surrounds me. Ihave fought the good fight (I think) and somehow now at this

stage, no matter what the outcome, I feel I have won.’--My Wish

‘For everything there is a season.’‘I want my family to move on with

their lives, and realize everything is for a reason.Have no regrets. Everybody did everything they could.

I love you all and will still be with you.’

Prayer 48TOGETHERNESS

Death is nothing at all - I have only slipped away into the nextroom. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call meby my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which youalways used to. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes weenjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let myname be the household word it always was. Let it be spoken

without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same thatit ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I

be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am butwaiting for you, for an interval somewhere very near, just aroundthe corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One briefmoment and all will be as it was before?only better, infinitelyhappier and forever. We will be all one together with Christ.

Prayer 49I remember the day I met you,

And the day God made you mine.I remember the day I lost you,And will ?till the end of time.We made our vows together,

?till death do us part;And when God came and took you,

My whole world fell apart.But deep in my heart,Your memory is kept;To love and cherish,And never forget.

Prayer 50Miss Me ? But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the roadAnd the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom filled roomWhy cry for a soul set free.

Miss Me A Little ? But Not Too LongAnd not with your head bowed low

Remember the love that we once sharedMiss Me ? But Let Me Go.

For this is a journey that we all must takeAnd each must go alone

It?s all a part of the Master?s planA step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heartGo to the friends we know

And bury your sorrows in doing good deedsMiss Me ? But Let Me Go.

Prayer 51THE SHIP (Male/Female)

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads herwhite sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her

until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where thesea and the sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone atmy side says; ?There, she is gone!? ?Gone where?? Gone from

my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and sparas she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear herload of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size isin me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my

side says; ?There, she is gone!? there are other eyes watching hercoming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout; ?Here

she comes!?

Prayer 52In tears we saw you sinking,We watched you fade away.

You suffered much in silence,You fought so hard to stay.

You faced your task with courage,But still you kept the fight.God saw you getting tired,When a cure was not to be,

So He put His arms around you,And whispered, ?Come with Me.?

So when we saw you sleeping,So peaceful, free from pain,We could not wish you back,

To suffer that again.

Prayer 53A FIREMAN?S Prayer

When I am called to duty, God,wherever flames may rage;

Give me strength to save some life whatever be its age.Help me embrace a little child before

it is too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate.Enable me to be alert

and hear the weakest shout,and quickly and effectively

to put the fire out.I want to fill my calling and to give the

best in me. To guard my every neighborand protect his property. And if according to my fate I am to lose

my life,please bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife.

Amen.

Prayer 54A POLICEMAN?S Prayer

Lord, I ask for courage: courage to face and conquer my ownfears; courage to take me where others will not go. I ask for

strength: strength of body to protect others; strength of spirit tolead others. I ask for dedication: dedication to my job to do well;

dedication to my community to keep it safe. Give me, Lord,concern: concern for all those who entrust me; and compassionfor those who need me; and please, Lord, through it all be at my

side.Prayer 55

A FISHERMAN?S PrayerGod grant that I may fish
