Job Title: Active Sports Officer (permanent appointment)Location: Regent’s Park, The ‘Hub’Pay Range £20,580 - £23,860 per annum

Responsible to: Sports Development Officer

The Regent’s Park Sports Hub is a high quality, fully accessible landmark building set within Grade 1 listed park land, laid out as multi-sport grass pitches. The Hub sports pitches provide a range of activities and services aimed at increasing participation in sport and physical activity across all social groups.

Main Purpose of the Job:The primary responsibilities of the post are; to assist the Active Sports Manager and Sports Development Officer in managing the Hub sports facility and the associated activities. As well as duty officer and administrative roles, the Active Sports Officer role has an emphasis on targeting underrepresented groups, as well as overseeing fitness licensing and state school use of the park. Key areas include:

Assisting with the day to day operation of the Hub & the bookings process. Delivering a GP exercise referral scheme. Overseeing the issuing of Fitness Licences within the Park, liaising with

trainers to ensure they adhere to Royal Park regulations and are suitably qualified.

Assisting with booking corporate sports events. Assisting with managing running events. Overseeing bookings of local school sports days within the park. To liaise and build relationships with customers from local residents to

National Governing Bodies. Undertaking operational tasks including reception work, cash handling,

bookings, & maintaining records. Assisting the public with enquiries & consistently offering a high

customer service standard expected within The Royal Parks.

Hours:

36 hours per week. Hours of work will be on a shift basis. You will be required to work a minimum of 1 weekend per month. Regular evening work is required throughout the summer season (May-August). Work will also include bank holidays. Time off in lieu will be preferred for this, however overtime may be agreed with Director Approval.

This post is identified as involving work with young people and vulnerable adults as such we will carry out a Standard CRB check on the successful candidate before appointment is confirmed.

Other Responsibilities:

Finance and Administration

To assist in keeping usage records and other monitoring statistics and in the preparation of material for progress and annual reports.

To assist the Fitness Licence application process, in accordance to The Royal Parks policies.

To assist in work relating to bookings for the pay-and-play facility. To assist in work relating to small sports events and school sports days,

following processes in accordance to the Royal Parks policies. To administrate the GP referral scheme in accordance with service level

agreement, provide monthly statistics and update the Sports Manager and Sports Development Officer on progress.

Operations and Facility Management

To assist in the effective day to day operation of the Hub.

This includes: Consistently demonstrating The Royal Parks Core values. To assist in ensuring that; internal staff, contractors, coaches, volunteers

and league organisers and programmes in The Royal Parks provide a safe, high quality experience and respond to the age, gender ability and cultural needs of individual users.

Assist in the delivery of the hub learning disability session. To assist in ensuring that the sports facilities and equipment in The Hub

comply with good practice standards applied by The Royal Parks. Opening and closing the Hub when acting as Duty Officer according to

prescribed operational procedures, ensuring the security of the premises and undertaking any Health & Safety checks as directed by the Sports Manager.

Overseeing use of the Hub and the sports pitches to help ensure safe practices and acceptable standards of behaviour are observed and to seek to minimise incidences of injuries misuse and damage.

Assist with pitch inspections to ensure pitch conditions are safe for play. Recording exercise class attendance and processing of PAR-Q forms. To be responsible for cash reconciliation.
