Saint Olga, Princess of Kiev

“Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Mark 10:4

Just another miracleJust another miracleJust another miracleJust another miracle If you ever go to Europe, you will probably visit dozens

of churches. The most beautiful buildings—in Greece, Germany,

France, and other places—are

churches! The first one you visit, you

say, “Wow! Amazing!” The second

one, you say, “Pretty cool!” But the

tenth one, you might just say, “Oh.

Another big church.”

But each one is a masterpiece. And

each one probably took years and

years to build!

Today, we hear about yet another

miracle that our Lord did for a per-

son. Once again, He heard about a person who was paralyzed—he couldn’t

walk. Jesus wanted to help the man. So He did. He healed him, and

changed his life forever.

In the Bible, we read about so many miracles that Jesus did. And you

might still hear about other miracles that God still does for us. Remember:

Each one is a miracle. Each one is something that only God can do. Always

be amazed! Lets not let it be like when we see the tenth church on our tour

in Europe. “Oh just another miracle.”

SAINT OLGA SHE BROUGHT CHRISTIANITY TO RUSSIA

If you were a princess or

prince, what would you do?

Maybe the first thing you might

think about are the fancy clothes,

the fancy dinners, the fancy trips.

But this week we remember a saint

who saw past these things.

Saint Olga was the princess of Kiev

more than 1,100 years ago. She ruled

over what is now Russia, Ukraine,

and more. Now, the people there are almost all Orthodox

Christians. But then, things were different. Most people

were pagan— they did not worship our one, true God.

Once, St. Olga visited the great city of Constantinople. She learned about

the Christian Church and wanted to be baptized. Then, she went back to

Kiev (where she lived), and took care of her grandsons. Many years later,

one of her grandsons, Vladimir, became emperor. He remembered the

faith of his grandmother. Then, Vladimir was baptized. Thousands of

people were baptized with him.

Over the years, millions and millions of people have worshipped as Or-

thodox Christians, thanks to this princess—St. Olga!

We celebrate the nameday of St. Olga on Friday, July 11th.
