CONGRATS TO OUR “HELPING HANDS AWARD” WINNER MICHAEL HOOVER

RANJ PUTHRAN AGENCY

Our Helping Hands Award winner this month is Michael Hoover, who created The Earl D. Hoover Memorial Tournament for Charities in his father’s name after his father passed away in 1997 following a long battle with cancer. Earl Hoover served as a Police Officer in Muncie, Indiana for nearly 25 years and his passion was being a musician and playing his Fender Stratocaster guitar. The event strives to carry on that message by rotating the benefiting charity each year so as to touch the lives of as many people and families as possible.

This year’s charitable partner will be the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Indiana Chapter. The event this year is scheduled for July 23rd.

Congrats to Michael Hoover for being our Helping Hands Award winner and thank you for helping raise funds for charities for so many years while keeping the memory of your Father alive.

The Huntington Learning Center in Carmel offers several top-notch programs that keep students’ skills sharp over the summer break. Whether they are working on subjects that may need some additional instruction, wanting to get a head start before the next school year or are practicing for the ACT and SAT, Huntington has the longest track record of helping students achieve academic success and boost their confidence.

Both the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredit Huntington. Huntington’s teachers are highly trained in subject areas and test-taking strategies on the ACT and SAT.

Huntington’s advanced study skills tutoring program is a one-on-one program, tailored to students at the eighth grade level or higher. The program focuses on executive functioning organization, time management and planning/preparation to help students effectively acquire, retrieve, analyze and

communicate information.

Huntington’s approach is based on the notion that study skills must be learned and executed. Huntington helps the students find study methods and habits that work best for them, which builds their confidence and motivation to reach their fullest potential.

Lindsay Cameron, center director for Huntington, spoke about the structure of the programs and the personalized services that it provides to the students. “We work with kindergarteners through 12th graders, and we focus on a wide range of programs here,” Cameron explained. “We work on reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, writing and math skills. We also have our study skills program. We work with our juniors and seniors who are preparing for the ACT and SAT.

“Something else that we do is work with our eighth graders who are going into private or parochial school their freshman year. We prep them for the HSPT and the ISEE, the local private high school entrance exams for the state of Indiana. We focus on skills that will

go beyond just helping a student get through their next text which is a common request, but we provide the student with skills that will last a lifetime and help them to prepare for exams in high school, college and beyond.

“Summer is our busiest time of the year. We offer mini programs like our study skills program and writing workshops for students who are looking to do something this summer to keep their skills fresh and maintain what they have learned the previous years.

“A lot of our programs are in a 4-to-1 ratio, meaning there are no more than four students to one teacher. It’s all individualized instruction. We also have one-on-one programs where the student works privately with a tutor on whatever subject they need to work on. Math is a big point for us in the summertime, getting kids ready for the next level of math before the next school year.

“When the student goes two months without practicing facts or their skills, it’s a very easy area to lose what they have retained over the school year. Most students come in two

to three days a week; some students more. The average session is about two hours per student.”

“We meet with our parents face-to-face and conference with them usually every three to four weeks in a child’s program. We give them ideas on how to help create the right

environment for their child to study and how to eliminate any distractions. They need a dedicated study area where there aren’t any distractions – no music, no TV and they need to put their phone away. It is understandable that they may need their tablets or computers to complete their work, but they should use them in a central part of the house where the

parents can monitor without helicoptering and make sure that they are studying, focused and working.”

Huntington is one of the few companies in the area that offers one-on-one tutoring for the ACT and SAT preparation. That offering has been evolving and expanding with all the

changes that the College Board has produced.

“The SAT just recently launched their new form of the test this past March,” Cameron said. “It has provided a lot of changes. The new SAT has proven to be much more challenging than the former SAT, and it has a lot of students and parents confused on what the best path for them will be. We feel confident in being able to guide them into the right direction and giving them that college preparation advice that they need to make the best decisions for their students.”

Huntington has been pushing the ACT programs with its high school juniors because of the SAT changes. The SAT used to focus on reading, math and writing skills. Now, math is 50 percent of the test score. If a student is not strong in math, the SAT may not be the best test for them.

The SAT also goes through upper level math skills whereas it only went through Algebra II before. It is now covering pre-calculus and trigonometry. The SAT also eliminated the use of a calculator in one of the sections, increasing its level of difficulty.

“I really reinforce to our middle school kids that they have to know how to divide decimals and multiply fractions without being dependent on a calculator,” Cameron elaborated. “We have really been steering our students towards the ACT prep program because it is a known fact of what they need to get into schools. The universities have listed on their websites what their expectations are for the ACT and SAT scores, but the SAT results are based on the old SAT expectations in the scoring. They don’t know what a good score for the new SAT is because there hasn’t been enough data collected to figure out those averages.

Celebrating her 10th year with Huntington, Cameron is passionate about education. “I have been in education for over 11 years,” she said. “I enjoy the personalization that we provide. When a child walks in the door, they are not just another sixth grader or just another eighth grader. They are somebody that has specific learning styles and needs, and

we work with them to their learning style and method. We personalize it to build their confidence. We strengthen their skills which ultimately makes them more motivated and produces successful results.”

If you want to know more about brewing, Jeff Eaton is the man to talk to.

Eaton co-owns the new Deer Creek Brewery at 17661 Cumberland Rd. in Noblesville with his new business partner, Eric Smith. He also owns Barley Island at 639 Connor St. in Noblesville with his wife Linda.

“I came up with the idea of opening Deer Creek Brewery and featuring whiskey barrels in our bar area after visiting distilleries in Kentucky,” Eaton said. “It really appealed to me, and I know it will have the same appeal for other people.”

Eaton views Deer Creek Brewery as a sister company for Barley Island.

“We have had a very successful, 16-year run at Barley Island, but it is really seen as a restaurant,” Eaton said. “We created Deer

Creek Brewery to get our brews in more diverse locations, such as restaurants, bars, liquor stores and other locations.”

Barley Island was first launched in December 1999.

“Barley Island has had a great year, and we are really hoping for the same with Deer Creek Brewery,” Eaton said during a tour of his facility. “We will be doing a lot of canning, bottling and distribution of kegs at Deer Creek. We will also be having the beers canned by mobile canning companies. We are very excited about this. A lot of our customers have already been asking about it.”

The four-pack bottles will be available in August.

Eaton noted that Deer Creek Brewery’s name is an homage to the former Deer Creek Music Center, which is now called Klipsh Music Center.

“At Barley Island, we renamed one of our porters as Deer Creek Porter,” he said. “It was a big hit, so I wanted to do something else with the name again.”

Eaton, who used to work at Roche Diagnostics in the Global Marketing and Hospital Glucose business, said the tasting room at Deer Creek Brewery was opened on Nov. 25, 2015, the day before Thanksgiving. The grand opening was May 21, 2016.

“The grand opening will be family friendly and will be a benefit for the Hamilton County Humane Society,” Eaton noted.

Deer Creek Brewery, a 13,185-square foot facility, features several drinks with clever names, including year-round drinks such as RyeFly Rye IPA, Deerfly IPA and Cork County Red Cream. There are blends with names such as Shakedown County, Deer County and Shady Shakedown.

“We have been able to triple our brewing capacity, and we will be able to have a 20-barrel brewing system,” Eaton stated. “We also have a large bottling and packaging production line.”

Deer Creek Brewery is open Thursdays from

2-8 p.m., Fridays 2-9 p.m., Saturdays 12-9 p.m. and Sundays 12-8 p.m.

Deer Creek serves pizza, hot pockets and Jalapeno cheese pretzels. They also take orders for food to be delivered by El Palenque Mexican restaurant.

“We offer very minimal food here, but we are not competing with the restaurants, which helps us get our products into their restaurants,” Eaton said.

Brewery tours are also offered, and a shuttle service is provided by The Brewline to take concert goers to select Klipsh Music Center events.

“We receive a lot of business from people just driving by, seeing the sign and stopping in,” Eaton said. “We have had a nice mix of new people we have just met and are also loyal customers from Barley Island.”

“WE CREATED DEER CREEK BREWERY

TO GET OUR BREWS IN MORE DIVERSE LOCATIONS, SUCH

AS RESTAURANTS, BARS, LIQUOR STORES AND OTHER LOCATIONS.”

TALBOT STREET ART FAIR

June 11-12 Herron-Morton Place Saturday: 10am-6pm Sunday: 10am-5pm talbotstreet.org Find on

The Talbot Street Art Fair is the longest running outdoor art fair in central Indiana. Since its beginning in 1956, organizers have strived to make each year better than before.

Celebrating this year its 61st year, the fair features over 250 artists both locally and from across the United States. The artists converge on Talbot Street between 16th and 20th Streets to present their work in many mediums. These include sculpture, glass, painting, jewelry, photography, ceramics, wood, printmaking, mixed media and fiber.

The host neighborhood, Herron-Morton Place, invites several food venues to the site, so refreshments can be purchased while

viewing the art. This is a family-friendly event, and as always, the admission is free!

The fair will be held, rain or shine. Since most artists travel with solid tent protection, this allows the event to master the weather. Many good conversations have been held in artists’ tents during a rain shower.

This year’s fair will be held June 11-12. Hours on Saturday are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours on Sunday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Talbot Street Art Fair provides scholarship programs to various educational institutions in the fine art disciplines.

Sally Keck Shapiro, wife of Brian Shapiro, married into the locally historic family 27 years ago. Together she and Brian have two grown children, a daughter and son, and are the fourth generation that has been serving the Indianapolis community for 110 years.

When their children reached an age where she felt that she could become more involved with her family’s restaurant, Shapiro stepped into the role of Marketing Director and Brand Manager, one task or

“hat” at a time.

“In the early days, I was the off-site project manager for the fifth generation, otherwise known as a stay-at-home mom,” Shapiro said. “I took over the business’ social media efforts around 2007, just at social media was really taking off and becoming a big part of a business’ marketing strategies. That soon led to my handling the customer service aspect and eventually the marketing and brand management for Shapiro’s.”

Shapiro was raised in a family-owned and operated environment and was the

fourth generation in her family’s car business prior to meeting her husband and becoming Shapiro’s fourth generation owners. Raised in a Methodist family, marrying into her husband’s Jewish family was a learning experience as they have raised their children in the Jewish faith. Shapiro would also learn the rich history of the Shapiro family that began in the United States in 1903 when Louis and Rebecca Shapiro arrived in Indianapolis from their native Odessa, Russia.

The founding Shapiros opened a small grocery-deli just a couple blocks south from downtown Indianapolis. Over the

century, the Shapiros grew their business, despite the Great Depression, Prohibition, anti-Semitism and the days of the election of the well-known Ku Klux Klan member Ed Jackson as Indiana’s governor in 1925.

Over the decades, the Shapiro family has maintained its core, and while they adapt to the changing times and wants of their customers, they remain true to the founding principles and high standards that were established long before they were even born.

Shapiro’s downtown location stands in the original location of the early grocery-deli that opened in 1905. In January 2015, Shapiro’s launched a new concept, Shapiro’s Twisted Traditions, a fast-casual dining experience at Keystone at the Crossing’s Fashion Mall. Shapiro’s sells more than 3,000 pounds of corned beef a week along with an expanded array of handcrafted specialties made from scratch.

“Over the years, we’ve remained true to who we are,” Shapiro emphasized. “Brian and I go to food conferences every year to stay current on what the industry trends are. We strive to

keep our presentation current and to be accommodating to our customers without changing our core principles.

“For example, at our Keystone location, we offer sliders because the ladies who come to have lunch with us are not going to eat our giant corn beef sandwiches. Our entrances are accessible from both inside the mall and from the parking lot, directly into our restaurant. We have six dedicated parking spots with our signs posted that I refer to as our ‘Kosher-style parking.’

Numerous notable customers have visited Shapiro and her husband at their restaurant locations over the years, and with the recent political focus on Indianapolis this election season,

the Shapiro’s downtown location was mobbed by the media and candidates in the weeks leading up to the Indiana primary.

“We hosted MSNBC with Thomas Roberts,” Shapiro said. “We also hosted CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360’s, Randi Kaye, who interviewed a few of our customers during the lunch-hour rush. Fox & Friends with Steve Doocy broadcasted live from Shapiro’s downtown, and just before Primary Election Day, our staff was given a 10-minute ‘heads-up’ to prepare and re-stock the cases for the arrival of Donald Trump.

“Our staff scrambled to spiff up the place and fill the cases that had been depleted by the barrage of media and guests over the days leading up to the elections. After Trump’s visit to Shapiro’s, I thought my computer was going to start smoking from the activity on our social media. Trump tweeted a mention of Shapiro’s that received 36,000 ‘Likes’ and 2,300 shares. It was unbelievable.”

With the all of the recent hubbub and the typical nuances that come with owning and operating a family-owned business, especially a 110-year-old legacy business, Shapiro emphasized the importance of maintaining her own identity while balancing her role as wife, mother and business owner.

Shapiro’s father was a WWII pilot and flew a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza where she spent a great deal of time sitting in the backseat, staring off into the horizon, as a child.

When Shapiro’s firstborn was a year old, she decided that she was going to learn to fly and reconnect with the sounds, sights and smells that brought back so many happy memories for her. Taking advantage of the availability of summertime babysitters, Shapiro received her pilot’s license in three months. She began her instrument rating while she was pregnant with her second child.

“My flight instructor was from Finland,” Shapiro recalled. “We would fly into

these little airports during my training. She’d get out of the plane with her beautiful white blonde hair, and I would get out, 7 months pregnant. These old pilots would be sitting around the hangers staring at us, trying to figure out what these two girls climbing out of the cockpit were all about.”

Whenever possible, the Shapiros will enjoy an extended weekend at their vacation home in northern Michigan, only a 2-hour flight from Indianapolis Executive Airport. The airport is not far from their residence that is just south of the Zionsville Presbyterian Church along the Hamilton and Boone County lines. She keeps her high-performance, single-engine, retractable gear, six-seater Piper Saratoga at Indianapolis Executive Airport.

“Flying is a great passion of mine and is an identity for me,” Shapiro explained. “I try to fly 100 hours a year to stay current. I typically cruise at about 155 knots, which is about 180 mph. I learned from my dad to always fly safe, not to cut corners and to always be thorough. I’ve always got one ear to the communication radios and one ear to my music, putting all of my other thoughts and concerns to the side.

“My dad always said that a pilot must concentrate on flying. When flying, I can enjoy the sunshine and the environment that surrounds me. My favorite memory of flying was when I flew my dad for the last time. Six months before he passed away, I took him up and flew 1,000 feet off of the ground, along the shoreline and down Lake Michigan. I flew just far enough out, so that he could see the shoreline one last time.

“I also love flying at sunset into the clouds and seeing the brilliant colors penetrating through the clouds all around me. It is a beautiful view. I believe that you have to be passionate about something in your life, and my passions are my family, our family business and cruising the skyline.”

Shapiro’s example of living a full and well-balanced life gives us pause to ponder that if we are true to our families, our professions and to our passions, then we just might be living good and full lives.

Celebrating the amazing history of military aviation, the 2016 CAF Warbird Expo will be held June 18 with special events the day before. The 2016 CAF Warbird Expo has moved to Indianapolis Regional Airport, formerly known as Mt. Comfort Airport.

Last year had close to 10,000 attendees. “Parking was definitely a challenge,” says Van Zant. “Indianapolis Regional Airport has ample space for parking; however, we are encouraging attendees to load up their cars with their family and friends and buy their parking pass early to ensure a spot.”

The CAF Warbird Expo was started by the Commemorative Air Force with the purpose to honor our military veterans and celebrate our rich history of aviation. The

CAF also raises money and awareness for the preservation of these historic Warbird planes with the ultimate goal of building a local interactive aviation museum.

The CAF is a national organization with a strong presence throughout the Midwest. They run many of the largest air shows across the country.

CAF Warbird Expo Chairman Mark Van Zant, a U.S. Air Force veteran who served for 10 years, earned his degree in aviation and started his own business after serving his country. A Highland High School graduate, Van Zant had an early love of aviation and earned his pilot’s license while he was in high school.

“Event Chair Mark Van Zant has done an amazing job of planning the relocation of CAF Warbird Expo to Indy Regional

Airport, leading a large team of volunteers and partnering with more universities and nonprofits in order to expand the event and better achieve our goals of honoring veterans, remembering military aviation history and inspiring youth,” shares CAF Wing Leader Dennis Schell.

This year, the CAF Warbird Expo has partnered with Indy Honor Flight. A plane pull is one of the new activities added to the events calendar during the air show. “We have teams and individuals who will work together to pull a plane with a rope, much like a strong man’s competition,” shares Van Zant. “The funds go to honoring veterans and sharing their stories.”

The weekend kicks off with a Hops and Props event on Friday night sponsored by Hotel Tango Artisan Distillery from 6-9 p.m. The evening will include music from

the 1940s along with professional ballroom dancers performing choreography indicative of the era. Many WWII re-enactors will be mingling with the crowd, and there will be 28 tables displaying WWII Museum artifacts. The event will also feature local breweries and food.

Saturday highlights include the CAF Red Tail Squadron celebrating the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. A movie will be shown documenting their story, and a former Tuskegee pilot will be speaking.

“This is a marvelous traveling museum,” shares Van Zant. “A 53’ semi trailer has a theater inside where attendees can sit, watch and listen to the history of these amazing men. The crew that travels with this exhibit is incredible. It’s not to be missed.”

The Red Tail Squadron exhibit will be available both Friday evening and all day Saturday.

The CAF Warbird Expo is interactive with a strong focus on involving children and STEM. The day-long kids camp held on Friday sold out months in advance. However, on Saturday, there are plenty of engineering, weather and navigation activities for kids to explore a variety of options to peak their curiosity about aviation. Purdue University, Vincennes University and Indiana State University will have simulators and activities for kids designed to introduce a new generation to aviation.

“This is a mini-air show with the real experience happening on the ground. Although we will have some planes in the air and rides available, the skies will have non-aerobatic action,” says Van Zant. “There is a lot that’s going on, and we are definitely family-focused.”

Although admission is free, there is a fee for parking. Passing can be purchased online at warbirdexpo.com.

Would you be able to detect a food insecure family here in Hamilton County? Would it surprise you to learn that our county is in the only “red” zone in Indiana which categorically means that approximately 30,000 residents are food insecure, some of which may live on the very same street as you?

The physicians and staff at the Indiana Spine Group (ISG), a clinical team comprised of board-certified physicians and surgeons, nurse practitioners and physical therapists who work together to provide the best in spine care here in Carmel, learned about the rising numbers of people in need of nutritious food and decided to “step” up to host the inaugural “Steps to End Hunger” 5K, 1-mile run/walk and family festival on the evening of June 25.

While hard to imagine, there are more than 12,500 food insecure children who live in Hamilton County alone. That’s close to one in every six children who do not have enough to eat to be healthy. Nearly 6,000 children in Hamilton County live in poverty.

ISG has teamed up with Gleaners Food Bank to help feed hungry Hoosiers. Proceeds from the family fun run/walk and festival will benefit Gleaners BackSacks Weekend Food for Kids program.

“The program provides children with meals that they can eat over the weekend,” said ISG’s public relations manager Stacia Matthews. “These are children who rely on school lunch programs as their main

meal throughout the day. This sack that they take home every Friday will ensure that they have nutritious food through the weekend.”

The event is ISG’s way to help raise awareness of a well-masked issue that affects families throughout our state but especially Hamilton County families that are at an alarmingly high risk of becoming first-generation poverty families.

Matthews is assisting the group in their coordination and advocacy of the upcoming run/walk. The event will take place in the parking lot of the 60,000 square-foot facility; soon it will be 110,000 square feet with the expansion of 20 new patient rooms and three operating rooms in January 2017.

“The inaugural run/walk is a family-friendly flat course that is designed for everybody,” Matthews said. “When

we learned that there were food insecure families and that those numbers were growing here in central Indiana and especially in Hamilton County, we thought that this would be a good fit for our organization, and we would be able to help raise awareness.

“We are working with Nancy Chance with the Good Samaritan Network, and she informed us that Hamilton County is in the red zone. The number of food insecure families is increasing. If we can help people and provide them with food, then they will be healthier, and there will be less absentees at school. Without nutritious food, children could grow up with deficiencies that could cause health problems in the years to come.

“While we want this to become an annual event to assist with the issues of food insecurity, we hope that the event becomes unnecessary, and that the cause will no longer be relevant.”

During the run/walk, there will be family-friendly activities going on in the ISG parking lot, including bounce houses, pizza and offerings from Carmel’s own Neighborhood Pizza and other activities throughout the event.

ISG’s CEO Hardy Sikand emphasized that their group is dedicated to giving back to their Carmel community and to serving their county and local areas in need.

“Each of our physicians are very interested in giving back to this community and to the greater central Indiana communities,” Sikand said. “We are all involved at an individual and group level of

supporting local programs and organizations that benefit the people of our communities. We are proud to be hosting this event and are grateful to our sponsors who are supporting ISG, so that we can, in turn, support the efforts of Gleaners and their volunteers. Our group of physicians are incredible, socially-conscious individuals and believe in giving back to their communities and to their patients as well.”

David Moore, Chief Advancement Officer for Gleaners Food Bank, oversees marketing, fundraising and volunteering as well as food sourcing.

“It is very important that people register for this run/walk and participate because there are a lot of hungry Hoosiers, and there are a lot of hungry Hoosiers in Hamilton County,” Moore stated. “Those folks need somebody to help them through a very difficult time, and by doing this run/walk, this is highlighting our BackSacks program and helping to ensure that the children who receive the BackSacks are provided with six meals on a Friday, so that they can eat on the weekend.

“They will be prepared to come back to school on a Monday, and rather than thinking about when they do they get to eat next, they are focused on their learning. It takes $8 million for us to fund our programs annually. We distribute about 30 million pounds of food. It

requires a lot of money that is needed, and we spend every penny of it making sure that the food goes out to the people who truly need it.

“We want people to understand that $1 can provide three meals for somebody. Our buying power gives us the opportunity to take that dollar and turn it into three meals. That makes a huge difference in the lives of those who are relying on us to help them during a difficult time in their lives.”

The Artomobilia team and its partners are gearing up for the 2nd Annual Fuelicious event held at the 33-acre Lucas Oil Estate in Carmel, on Friday, August 26, 2016. In quickly becoming one of the must attend events of the summer, Fuelicious excites the senses by delivering a premium culinary experience, uncompromised access to an unbelievable collection of automobiles, a premier audience of committed automotive enthusiasts all in the elegant surroundings of the Lucas Oil Estate. Combine that environment with knowledge that the proceeds go to support the great work of the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund and you have a can’t miss event.

Purpose drives the focus of this event by combining the awareness and the resources of automotive enthusiasts, business leaders, and local personalities in supporting the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund. Indiana Children’s Wish Fund is a 501(c )(3) and single-entity, statewide wish-granting organization focused on Indiana children, ages 3-18, with life-threatening or terminal illness. Indiana Children’s Wish Fund is not affiliated with any other wish-granting organizations. It was founded in August of 1984 and is celebrating over 30 years of wish

granting. The “wish” Children are referred to the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund by their doctors, nurses, social workers, parents, etc.

John Leonard, the Executive Director of Artomobilia and founder of Fuelicious, described what participants, sponsors and guests should expect to experience during this year’s Artmobilia and Fuelicious events.

“I go to a number of car events around the country each year and one of my favorites my family and I attend is the Monterey Car week,” Leonard said. “Thousands of people come from all over the country to check out all of that show’s events. They come out because it’s a beautiful location but more so because of the content of the cars is fantastic. In a course of 4 -5 days, attendees can enjoy between 5 and 10 different events and each event is tailored for a specific demographic. The entire experience is high-end and offers first-rate customer experience. Those are the same characteristics that I am trying to create with Artomobilia weekend along with Fuelicious. The first priority is that we want everyone to have a full white glove experience. The city of Carmel has a tremendous amount of assets and we are trying to leverage those one-by-one in order to offer great experiences in unique environments with great content.

“Artomobilia all started because I really enjoy cars and it’s an passion of mine but what keeps me motivated are the stories from the car owners and their incredible tales and because the Artomobilia weekend supports a really great and local cause. The people that support Artmobilia have been really

supportive of the cause and so it made sense for the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund to be our focus at Fuelicious.”

Terry Ceaser-Hudson, executive director of the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund, spoke about the impact the fundraisers such as Fuelicious has on their organization and what that enables them to do for Hoosier children. Since joining the organization in 1985,

THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND FUELICIOUS

Hudson has redeveloped the organization’s fundraising mechanisms and to date, the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund has granted more than 3,200 wishes to Indiana Children.

“One of the first things that we did after I came into the organization was reformat how we raised funds and we began fundraising through fabulous events and long term partnerships with corporations and individuals rather than solicitations,” Hudson said. “Fuelicious has become one of my favorite fundraisers. It is a newer event

but in my opinion, it is one of the finest events in the community. From the minute that you arrive at Fuelicious, you feel like you are at something very special. You feel special and you know that you are doing something incredible for Hoosier children. Every that penny that we receive goes directly to our children’s wishes. This event is growing I think that it has the potential to become one of the largest fundraisers that benefits our organization and the Indiana children that we serve.”

Fuelicious assembles one of the most unique and desirable collections of automobiles and automotive enthusiasts. Sponsorships are currently available. If you have this same perspective and values, they invite you to join their efforts as a partner for the up-coming Fuelicious event in support of the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund. You can support the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund by hosting 10 individuals with a table, or entertain your clients and/or reach a broader audience with a corporate sponsorship. MICHAEL MCDONALDPresented by The CenterWed. July 6 at 7:3000 p.m. at the PalladiumTwo notes. That’s all it takes to recognize the voice of Michael McDonald. Distinctive and soulful, it is one of the most yearningly emotive instruments of our time. To this add formidable songwriting and keyboard skills, and you have

an artist who has been a singular musical presence for four decades. From ‘70s-era Doobie Brothers classics such as “What A Fool Believes” and solo hits like “I Keep Forgettin’” through two highly-acclaimed Motown albums, genre-busting guest spots and innovative concept shows, the five-time Grammy Award winning McDonald is both timeless and ever-evolving.
