C andlelight Opera specialise in presenting quality performances of Opera and concerts which
are specially staged so as to compliment a variety of performance venues. From glamorous
galas, where audience can enjoy an informal evening under the stars picnicking with family
and friends in beautiful landscaped grounds, to fully staged operas and concerts performed
inside the ballroom, great hall or on the staircase of some of the Country’s favourite treasure houses
and historic homes - whatever the occasion, Candlelight Opera promise to entertain.
All the performances are beautifully costumed, performed with chamber orchestra and staged in such
a way as to compliment the individual performance venues, where the combination of fine voices,
swirling dresses and magnificent surroundings is sure to recreate an atmosphere of elegance and
excitement. From the moment of entering the venue, audience are invited to soak up the atmosphere,
and enjoy a complete evening’s entertainment in a very special setting. Candlelight Opera work in
close association with organisations such as The National Trust and English Heritage as well as
privately owned properties such as Wilton House, Hatfield House and Penshurst Place where
audiences are offered the opportunity to enjoy exclusive access to these beautiful, historic family
homes. Candlelight Opera also organise and produce their own schedule of special opera events called
the ‘Opera in the House’ season which is marketed and promoted through their own private members
mailing list. Ideally suited to anyone who has a love of opera, fine art & history, these very special
events bring magnificent historic venues to life, often recreating the period settings which were
intended for many of the most popular operas.
In addition to the actual performance, Candlelight Opera are also able to provide the following services
to help make your event run more smoothly, should they be required:
• Staging, lighting and all technical requirements necessary to producing the event
• Assistance in marketing the event through the Candlelight Opera private mailing list & website
• Production of leaflets, posters and marketing material
• Front of House facilities & managing the audience on the night

C andlelight Opera present a varied selection of popular complete operas for the 2009 season.
All are beautifully costumed in authentically styled period dress, performed with chamber
orchestra scaled to the room setting, and sensitively staged to compliment the individual venue.
Candlelight Opera are also keen to work with the venue to develop ‘Heritage Packages’,
whereby concert tickets can include entry to the house and grounds during the day, exclusive private
access tours of the house before the performance, and optional dinner and accommodation packages.
‘OPERA IN THE HOUSE’ for Heritage venues
The extensive experience which Candlelight Opera has gained from organising performances inside
historic houses for organisations such as English Heritage and The National Trust, has ensured that the
staging and technical specifications required to mount a fully staged production are sensitive to the
conservation issues inherent in any historic venue. Candlelight Opera can provide their own specialised
staging and lighting which complies to the restrictions imposed by working in sensitive environments.
So as to limit disruption to the normal operations of the venue, there is minimal set-up required
for each production.
Open air & Festival performances
Candlelight Opera can assist you with your festival or musical promotion by providing a beautifully
costumed gala performance with orchestral accompaniment, ideally suited to open air stages,
theatres and concert halls.

Candlelight Opera will help you produce and promote a special event of this kind,
whereby guests can enjoy a candlelit dinner accompanied by fine music designed to promote an
atmosphere of elegant informality with experienced singers whose style is guaranteed to put your guests at
their ease in relaxed and comfortable surroundings. Performances can adopt a number of different styles
depending on the layout and size of room, and facilities at the venue:

As well as producing a number of scheduled public events each year as part of their ‘Opera in the
House’ season, Candlelight Opera also provide individually styled performances which are perfectly
suited to private and corporate entertainments. Each programme is styled around the particular
timings, themes and venue hosting the event and may be performed by one or two soloists or a full
company depending upon the individual requirements. As well as fully staged complete operas,
Candlelight are able to offer shorter programmes of popular opera and operetta as well as lighter
programmes of music from the 1930’s & 40’s by Gershwin, Porter and Kern.
The company has worked with a number of organisations such as English Heritage and The National
Trust, and charities which include The Sebastian Gates Action Trust, Corda, Jigsaw Appeal , as well as
entertaining the international sponsors of The Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme at Bagshot Park.
