Sharp decrease of ComSoc membership Sept. 2014 to Sept. 2015Members: -32.3%Graduate Student Members: -58.4%Student Members: -83.7%stopping ComSoc Free of Charge membership explains the -32.3% for members, but it is not the only reason for Studentsstudents did not renew and new students did not enroll

need to focus our effort on students

Childcare Program at Conferences

A feasible solution has been identified set aside a small budget for childcare grants at ICC/GLOBECOM

– to support onsite childcare at conference location– to support childcare at home, if parents come to attend the conference

parents are responsible for making own arrangementsComSoc might arrange for discounts, but parents choose the providerkids admitted at Exhibit Hall if a Minor Release Form is signed

Suggested budget: ~$300/grant, max total $4000/yearMagnetics Society: 10 grants $300 for conferences ~1500 attendeesNuclear & Plasma Sciences Society: pilot program, up to $400 per family

Reduction in Number of Members in AP Region from Dec. 2014 to Dec.2015 Overally, the number of members reduces in all countries from

Dec. 2014 to Dec. 2015 In particular, the reduction in India is drastic. The reason may be the recent worldwide economic recess and the

quite mature communication technologies. Further study is required. Need to set up new chapters/councils in Korea, China, and

Pakistan Need to admit more student ComSoc members who are potential

researchers, technologists, and educators in the communication field.
