in this design the sealing is metal to metal, so greasing on the sealing surface is necessary to reduce valve operating torque. as the valve is being operated a thin film of grease retained on the body will be applied on the sealing surface.

in case of small leakage the plug may be regulated and pushed against the body to make the valve tight. in this case the valve operating torque will quickly be increased. injecting grease on the valve will make the valve easy operating.

grease is usually injected through the stem and conducted on the sealing surface across the ducts and grooves specially designed.

design features

in this design the sealing is made by a PTFe sleeve and the surface of the plug. The PTFe sleeve is locked into the body by means of grooves and metal lips.in case of small leakage the plug may be regulated and pushed down on the sleeve tightening the valve.

Plug valves are a quarter turn valves similar to ball valves. The valve closure system consists in a conical plug, which seats against a soft material sleeve, or against the body of the valve.Plug valves are used as ON-OFF valves. Fully opened valves have a low pressure loss value.Comparing with ball valves plug valves have the following advantages:

• Less valve weight, specially impor-tant for big sizes.

• Bigger seating surface than a same size ball valve.

• much more uniform velocity of the fluid while closing. Wire drawing is avoided.

Plug valves may be lubricated, or non lubricated design.
