WHAT AIP IS ALL ABOUT AIP is an umbrella term referring to a group of programs that provide a continuum of services to youth aging out of

the foster care system. Youth are referred to the AIP at the age of 15 from Bucks County Children and Youth

Services (BCCY) through the Intensive Services Unit, as well as the Bucks County Juvenile Probation Office (BCJPO). Comprehensive programs, such as Independent Living, Board Extension, Aftercare, Aftercare Housing and

Mentoring, have been created at Tabor to ensure that our foster youth have the best possible chance to

successfully transition to independent living and adulthood.

Tabor’s AIP partners with numerous community agencies, businesses and organizations for the purpose of providing life skills training, as well as resources for the youth as they work toward achieving independence. Collaboration

with other agencies in the community is a vital component of the AIP. A great deal of coordination occurs between Tabor and the various agencies involved in the youth’s life in order to orchestrate a successful transition.

MENTORING is available to youth who are referred to the AIP by BCCY and BCJPO. The Mentoring program is intended

to be an over-arching service that will be offered to all youth throughout their participation in the AIP foster youth to learn

about and practice self-advocacy.

BUCKS COUNTY YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (YAB) meetings are held once a month and are intended to allow foster

youth to learn about and practice self-advocacy at the county, regional and state levels.

BOARD EXTENSION PROGRAM (BE) is designed to provide support and direction to youth who opt to stay in the care of

the county and continue on to post-secondary education. The BE Specialist provides monthly oversight to ensure that the youth

Is maintaining their grades, health and finances.

INDEPENDENT LIVING (IL) helps youth, ages 15 to 18, who are invited to participate, to develop the strengths necessary to

successfully transition to adulthood.

“Tari, a past participant in our Board Extension Program, has become a strong, mature and confident young woman. Tari accepted the challenge that she was in charge of her future. She is now insightful beyond her years, and

accountable for lapses in judgment on her

journey through life. “
