SVO order• En mi trabajo, yo afeito perros.• [subj.] [verb] [obj.]

• Reflexive Verbs = The Subject and Object are the same thing!– En mi trabajo, yo me afeito.– [subj.] [obj.] [verb]

• Otro ejemplo– Julia viste su perro. (SVO)– Julia se viste. (Reflexive—Julia dresses Julia [herself]).

Reflexive pronouns

Some examples

• Yo me levanto.• Tú te levantas.• Ella se levanta. Él se levanta. Usted se

Get(s)

• Reflexive pronouns often are translated as “get(s)” in English– Yo me caso. (I get [myself] married).– Jorge se levanta en la mañana. (Jorge gets

[himself] up in the morning.

Reflexive Pronoun Placement

• Carlos y Julia se quieren levantar.• Carlos y Julia quieren levantarse.

• Tú te necesitas poner la ropa.• Tú necesitas ponerte la ropa.
