On 18 February 2016 the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation sanctioned construction of around 82,000 houses for Economically Weaker Sections in urban areas of 163 cities.
Cost of construction will be over 4,000 crore Rupees. Out of this 1226 crore rupees will be provided under the Prime Minister's Awas Yojana (Urban).

To create a healthy competition among the Command Hospitals of the Army and its equivalent hospitals in the Navy and Air Force the Raksha Mantri’s Trophy was instituted in 1989.
On 18 February 2016 The Command Hospital (Eastern Command) in Kolkata was awarded with the Best Service Hospital.
The trophy was presented by Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar to the hospital’s Commandant Major General TS Ahluwalia in the Armed Forces Medical Services in Kolkata.

Transistors are small devices that are used in all the electronic devices such as computer, mobile.
With this discovery mobiles and computers can be developed which are 100 times faster.
The discovery was made by a team of engineers led by Indian-Orgin Ashutosh Tiwari at University of Utah, the USA.
It was published online on 15 February 2016 in the journal Advanced Electronic Materials.

New kind of 2D semiconducting material discovered
Indian Navy and Myanmar Navy on 16 February 2016 signed Standard Operating Procedure for India-Myanmar Coordinated Patrol at the Tri-Service Headquarters in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
With this signing of SOP, Myanmar became the third country with which India has signed a formal agreement for maritime coordinated patrols.

North Central Railway in association with the Construction and open line Units of the Railway on 14 February 2016 commissioned an ultra-modern computer-based signaling system at the Khurja junction.
