Christmas with the Kids
Chi Omega and Kappa Alpha paired up to raise money to buy unfortunate kids Christmas presents.
We sold chicken biscuits on campus two mornings to raise money.
Each group was given a Child to shop for and ideas of what they wanted.
We went to Wal-Mart and bought the kids presents and then we had a party to give them their gifts!
Justin T. Hobdy Flag Football Tournament
It is a flag football tournament to raise money for a scholarship. All the teams pay an entry fee for the tournament and that money is put towards the scholarship.
It was an all day event. We were there from 8am until 6pm.
Wings for Wishes
We get restaurants from around town to donate chicken wings.
We sell tickets to students, faculty, and other Valdosta residents for $5.
Each person gets to try a wing from every restaurant and pick their favorite.
All the money we made goes to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Relay for Life
Relay for Life was a lot of fun. I was there from 6pm until 4am. My whole sorority was there so it was a
lof of fun hanging out with everyone. I played football, frisbee, kickball, and
lots of different activities at different tents.
We raised over $700.
Reflection
Doing community service really has taught me a lot, especially Relay for Life and Christmas with the Kids.
It was so rewarding seeing the kids get their presents and see the survivors walk.
They were so appreciative for all we did for them.
What I Learned….
I learned that waking up at 6am isn't always a bad thing.
I learned wasting a whole Saturday doing community service isn't always a waste!
It is a good thing helping the unfortunate, it makes you feel better about yourself at the end of the day.
