Doraemon: The Movie

Friday, Nov. 14 6:30pm @ Even more famous than Pokemon’s Pikachu, Doraemon is incredibly popular with both children and adults alike. Now the adorable, blue, robo-cat of the future is back and better than ever in this remake of his first feature-length film, originally released in

1980. Cited by Time Magazine as “the Cuddliest Hero in Asia”, this beloved Japanese icon was recently named as the first “Anime Ambassador” by the Foreign Ministry of Japan. The Doraemon series, which first appeared in 1969, remains immensely popular today. The manga received the first Shogakukan Manga Award for Children in 1982 as well as the first Osamu Tezuka Culture Award in 1997.

The adventure begins when Suneo, the neighborhood rich kid, starts showing off his new dinosaur fossil. Vowing to not be outdone, Nobita begins digging and discovers an egg. With his care it soon hatches, but as the dinosaur grows, Nobita’s neighborhood is thrown into chaos. With both the town and the dinosaur in danger, Nobita realizes that he must return the dinosaur to the cretaceous period, 100 million years in the past. With Doraemon’s help, the gang sets out on a prehistoric quest full of excitement and danger.
