Artist Sue Katz will start the celebration forThanksgiving with a stunning Exhibition of col-orful acrylic paintings. This collection is a con-tinuation of a journey started earlier in the yearwhen the artist, well known for her intricate col-

lages, decided to return to drawing with graphiteand painting with acrylics. Art is a window intomy world. The ability to create has always beenmy form of self expressionI do love to paint

and use acrylics basically for the ease of layering color over color that this me-dium affords me. I also like the quickness of the medium.I am able to go withmy first instinct in terms of choosing what colors to use and put down quickly, without having the medium dictate that for me.

Color is definitely the key to this second collection of still life paintings. I love still life because I am interested in howshapes define and interact with each other on the paper..I am able to put objects together in such a way that I findcompositionally strong and interesting. In this way the artist is able to elevate everyday objects into striking works ofart.

Pam Burnside, Gallery Manager, stated: We are happy to be hosting this Show for Sue, who is a popular artist here. One of the most constant comments that we receive from customers is how beautiful and uplifting the colors in theGallery are all mixed together in one space and thats exactly how Sues work can affect you in a positive way! AsBahamians we take living in this vividly colorful environment for granted but we really need to appreciate just howfortunate we are.

Originally from Boston, Sue received her art education at Syracuse University School of the Visual Arts and theRhode Island School of Design. She worked as a freelance illustrator for advertising agencies, publishing houses, editorials and fashion houses in the U.S. Her work has been collected throughout the U.S. and The Bahamas and isalso available for sale in Key West, Florida at The Gallery on Greene. She is presently making preparations to ex-hibit her work in the U.K.

Sue has been living in Nassau for the past 18 years with her husband and two sons. In October 2005 she organizeda successful Bahamian Invitational Exhibition entitled The Naked Truth which consisted of 2-D sculpted torsos indi-

vidually designed by different local artists that were sold to benefit the Cancer Society of the Bahamas whilst raisingawareness about breast cancer. Sue is also the host of the popular live interactive Radio Show Saturday MorningCaf on Stars 106.5.

Sues Still Life 2 Show will run until Tuesday December 1.
