Porcelian is a wonderful, no I mean amazing model to work with. She is highly

talented very professional and really has a lot of energy. She is absolutly genuine, her

way of expressing her emotions to the mood is so natural and candid. Porcelain is

a full time free lance model and performer she does burlesque and also a part time

actress. Her interests include rhinestones, furry lovable creatures, brownies and mail.

Also, she likes laying out on sunny days wearing nothing but SPF100.(Plus sun-

block).

Q&AHow About you tell us a little bit about yourself.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma, though I do not consider myself a country girl, I love the outdoors. I do a lot of hands on crafts (crochet, jewelry ect) and I’m kind of a nerd for video games!

What’s your background in modeling? When and why did you get started? Was it for the glamour? The money? Pure kicks?

My modeling career is all thanks to a pair of artists in my home town. I went into their gallery one day, never having a thought of modeling and fell in love with their work. I asked if they needed models and they said yes! Two weeks later I took part in my first photo shoot and they turned one of the pictures into a painting. I’ve been modeling for almost 4 years now and I still love modeling for paintings most of all.

What are your goals as a model?

My goals for modeling are simple, I want to help the photographer/artist bring their ideas to life.

How would you describe your style? Consider anything and everything from color to historical eras and more.

I’ve never really given much thought to my style of modeling but at a photo shoot I always have this mindset: I am beautiful and graceful. Give me any prop/clothing and time and I can make an interesting and classy picture. How do you see yourself progresing in this field?

Progresing in modeling by being upfront and honest with photographers, by being on time and by being easy and fun to work with.

What distinguishes a good model from a bad one?

Being on time is important and having a good attitude is a must. I also always try to answer messages even if it’s to tell the photographer I’m not interested.

How do you prepare for a modeling shoot?

I usually try to get a list of things to bring for the shoot from the photographer then wing it!

How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Do you like phone calls, text, and or email?

Usually communication starts with email but the easiest way to keep up with me is text.

How open are you to clients’ requirements?

I definitely have my list of do’s and don’ts but as long as my boundaries aren’t pushed to hard I’m open for suggestions of work.

Describe the atmosphere you like when you’re on a shoot. Do you like music to play? Do you like people standing around watching? What do you like or dislike while your shooting?

I like funky music or shooting outdoors with just the sounds of nature. I definitely have more fun at shoots where both myself and the photographer have an appropriate view of what’s expected of each other.

How would you describe working with the photographers?

Every photographer is different and has his own unique shooting style.

What do you dislike about modeling?

One thing that really bothers me about modeling is the unpredictability of shoots. I have had to cancel and been cancelled on, I hate cancellations above all else.

What advice do you have for other aspiring models?

Don’t give up! Be on time, be respectful, know your boundaries and don’t let anyone tell you they are crap. If you aren’t interested in shooting a certain style or theme then don’t. It’s ok to say no.

Availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?

I have traveled all over the US and live traveling, I work any hours I’m needed.

Your favorite part of modeling.

I love working with artists because I hope to see myself in paintings!

Interview with Liam Tully & Johnny Mei

1. Who are you guys and where do you call home? What are you doing in the Puget Sound area?

LT: I was born in the Bay Area, but my family moved to Washington state when I was 15. Johnny and I met at the University of Puget Sound, where I’m currently finishing my senior year. I love Washington, but I’ll always feel like California is my true home.

JM: I grew up in Oakland, CA. I’m a junior at University of Puget Sound, spending way too much time writing songs with Liam and way too little time doing homework.LT: Sorry, Johnny’s mom!

2. What draws you to music? How did you both get started on this path?

LT: Music was playing in my house from my very earliest memories. My dad had all the great old blues and rock n’ roll records, and the first time I heard Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Good” I just had to get my hands on a guitar. Later on I got into songwriting by way of the Eagles and Paul Simon, and songwriting became my true love.

JM: When I was a kid, I saw a family friend playing Eastern European folk music on the violin, and was mesmerized. I spent the next decade training classically and rediscovered that Balkan sound only a few years ago, along with hip-hop and dance music.

3. Where do you draw inspiration from?

JM: Balkan music, Western classical music, and in the rock arena, the Beatles and Radiohead. I also really dig the EDM scene at Puget Sound.

LT: My favorite writing is the kind that makes you say, “That’s what I was feeling, but didn’t know how to say.” I love seeing the little threads of life interweave, identifying common patterns, and then putting those into music—lyric, melody, or rhythm. I’m most inspired by those musicians for whom the song is king. Lately I’ve been having a torrid love affair with the music of D’Angelo.

4. What’s your favorite jam (or creative collaboration) session like? Who buys the pizza?

JM: Sometimes we’ll be trying to solve a compositional puzzle, not really knowing where it’s going, just bouncing ideas off each other, and suddenly we come across a phrase or a rhythm that makes us both go, “YEAH.” Often with a few joyous expletives following or preceding it.

LT: Yeah, it’s actually astonishing—considering how different our backgrounds are—how often we have the same idea at the same time. We’re not two writers on the same page; we’re on the same letter.

JM: We’re not two writers on the same page; we’re two pages on the same writer.

LT: …what?

JM: Um.

LT: Maybe, “two pages by the same writer?”

JM: There you go.

LT: And we buy steak, actually. We split the cost, I do the cooking, and Johnny cleans the dishes.

JM: Now there’s an ideal jam sesh.

5. What’s the process like when putting a new song together and getting the sound and feel just right? Can you walk us through that creative process?

JM: It’s been completely different every time. And that’s the most important part of coming up with original material, is doing it differently.

LT: Sometimes people assume that because I’m the singer, I write the lyrics and Johnny writes the music. But our relationship is really great in that the writing, quite naturally, is usually split 50/50 in all aspects. There’s a song we have called “Strangers,” and Johnny wrote almost all the lyrics for that in one session. Then I was in the shower the next day, and ended up writing the entire melody in the space of about twenty minutes.

JM: “Gypsies,” on the other hand, was completely different. Liam had a little three note instrumental hook that we wanted to use, and we put some chords to it that really sparkled. A few days later I texted him this goofy little stanza—I didn’t even think much of it—and he texted me back, “THAT’S THE CHORUS.” He wrote a melody to it, and boom, we were off. We wrote the rest of the song together, and slowly it grew into a cross between bouncy rock/pop and this pulsing Balkan groove.

LT: Such a big part of our writing process just comes from us saying goofy things to make each other laugh. That kind of attitude is important to breaking down the walls and rules that tend to be established as you do something regularly.JM: I think there’s this perception that anything goofy lacks the depth to be meaningful or important, and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. But I think it can catch people off guard and get them thinking about things they might otherwise ignore.

6. So you already have an EP out there, what’s it like to get your music on iTunes and just have people buy it and download it? How does it make you feel?

LT: The EP was actually a solo effort of mine before Johnny and I even met. That was one of the best years of my life. My friends and I organized a release party and passed out 30 handmade invitations. That was a massive success, and it’s been really cool to see people share my music. The EP also showed me a lot about just how much more I had to learn about writing, and it made me realize that that acoustic pop sound wasn’t actually what I wanted to do. That’s one of the reasons I made the pitch to Johnny to be songwriting partners. There was an edge to his sound that inspired me to write differently—things more in the arena of Led Zeppelin and Frank Ocean.

JM: Before we started writing together, my only experience with Liam was playing live shows where we performed the songs from his EP. I’d done a lot of instrumental composing that hadn’t really gone anywhere, and honestly, I didn’t feel like I had a lyrical or musical voice until Liam convinced me to start writing with him. We’re looking to release a few songs by May, and then a mixtape at the end of the summer. I’m psyched for that. All our friends think we’re crazy, they wonder what we’re doing with all that time we spend together. We haven’t done any shows this year, we’ve been doing nothing but writing and recording—they have no idea what’s coming.

7. Where do you expect to go from here? You guys are college students, so what’s the future plans? What’s next? Any concerts coming up in the area?

LT: We can’t reveal too many of the details of our top-secret master plan, but we’ll be moving down to LA together—

JM: What Liam means to say is we’ll be releasing a toxic gas into the earth’s atmosphere to induce a permanent haze of funk and dancing.

LT: [Cackles wickedly.]

JM: [Strokes white cat on lap.]

Ebonne Robinson is a model based out of Tacoma, WA. She came across

modeling on her own by trying something new and outside of the box that was

unfamiliar to her at the time. After trying it out, Ebonne realized that she liked

it so much and continued to pursue doing more shoots. Ebonne is not signed

to an agency and has been modeling since April 2014, producing eye-capturing

and beautiful photographs. Ebonne graduated from Curtis High School, has

her Associates in Arts and Science and is currently pursuing a degree in the

legal field. She has done photo shoots ranging from fashion to boudoir to
