Thirty discarded breeding dogs from puppy mills in the Midwest were transferred to the Dumb Friends League over the past two days. Volunteers from National Mill Dog Rescue near Colorado Springs rescued the dogs from puppy mills across the Midwest

over the weekend.

All of the dogs will receive medical and behavior evaluations prior to going up for adoption, and each dog will be treated

based on its individual needs.

"For perhaps the first time in their lives, these dogs will receive the care and compassion they deserve," said Judi Heady, director

of the Quebec Street Shelter. "Their tails haven't stopped wagging since they arrived, and we're so thankful we could give

them this second chance."

If you don't have room in your home to adopt, you can still help provide care to these puppy mill survivors and the other

homeless pets at the Dumb Friends League by making a tax-deductible donation, the League said Tuesday. Donations enable

the League to provide shelter, medical care, foster homes, behavior training and other vital services to homeless pets like

these puppy mills.
