DESCRIPTION / OVERVIEW• TheWISIV-CMTS(Video-CableModemTerminationSystem)isa“head-endinabox”providingIPTVvideo,broadbandand VoIP(Telephony)tocustomersincableTV,satellite&IPTVnetworks,Buildings,HotelsandCommunities.

• Itisaconvenientsolutionforanalogswitchover,enablingdigitalSDStandardandHDHighDefinitionTVoverIPTV, BroadbandInternetandVoIP.

• TraditionalcablenetworksaresupportedwithDVB-Ccompatible&EuroDOCSISoutput,andIPTVnetworksarealso supportedviabothEthernetandVideooverEuroDOCSIS.

TheWISIV-CMTSisa19”4Uchassis-basedsolutionwithIPTVcapabilitiesandEuroDOCSISsupport.Thechassishousesupto9Input&OutputModules.TheOutputcanbebothQAM-andIP-based.Forcustomersthatrequirealargernumberofinputoroutputmodules,orrequireaflexibleredundancystrategy,multipleWISIV-CMTSscanbedeployedtogetherlikeasingleunit.

AsanIPTVheadendforcoaxnetworks,theWISIV-CMTScanconvertinputsignalstomulticastIP,creatinganIPTVmulticastnetworkaccessiblethroughaEuroDOCSIScablemodembyanystandardIPTVset-topbox.

Existingcoaxialterrestrialdistributionnetworksareconvertedintohigh-speedtriple-playbi-directionalnetworkswithouttheneedforanymodificationoradditionalcabling.Unliketraditionalhead-ends,accessismadeavailablethroughareal-timevideoswitchingtechniquewhichmeansthattheonlyprogrammesontheTVnetworkarethosethatarecurrentlyrequestedfromtheinteractiveset-topboxes.

WISIV-CMTSenablesbothunicastandmulticastIPTVsignalstobepassedoverthein-housecoaxnetwork,accessiblethroughaEuroDOCSIS2.0cablemodembyanIPTVset-topbox.Itimplementsan‘acceleratedIGMP’whichreduceschannelchangetimetoaminimum.WerecommendtouseWISIapprovedCableModemsandfirmwaretogetacceleratedIGMPv2switchingtimes.

BroadbandInternetservicescanalsobeofferedandaredeliveredtoEuroDOCSIS2.0cablemodemswithinthehomes.Upto15QAMoutputchannelscancontainbroadbandinternetservicessourcedfromeitherofthetwo10/100/1000base-TEthernetports.ThisdeliversdownstreambandwithtoEuroDOCSIScablemodemsupto750Mbit/sintotal.TheV-CMTSsupportsupto400cablemodemsconnectedperchassis,offerconfigurableratelimitingandgroupcontentionratiosforbroadbandservices.IPTVVODservicescanbeconnectedtogigabitEthernetportandprovidedtoIPset-top-boxesthroughthecablemodems.

TheV-CMTScanbeconnectedtoabackofficetooffer‘RemoteNetworkManagement’.BothSNMPandSSH(SecureShell)aresupported,allowingfullremoteconfiguration,diagnosticsandmaintenance.

TheV-CMTShasbeendesignedtobesimpletoinstallandsupportsaneasy-to-use‘SecureWebinterface’toassisttheinstaller.Abasic‘SpectrumAnalyzer’functionisavailableviathiswebinterface,showingalltheexistingRFsignalsonthebuildingnetwork.Ared/amber/greengraphicalrepresentationoftheV-CMTSstatusquickandeasyidentifiesanyproblems.

TheV-CMTScaneitherhaveitsRFoutputmanuallyconfiguredorusingthebuilt-inspectrumanalyzertoautomaticallyscanthebuildingscoaxnetworkandplaceitsoutputQAMchannelsinfreespaceonthecoaxnetwork.Alloptionsarestoredinasingleconfigurationfile,whichcanbesavedanduploadedviaaWebinterface,toreduceon-siteconfigurationtime.ThesoftwareisupgradableeitherviatheGigabitEthernetportlocallyorviaremoteaccess.
