Clevermode - World's most Compact and Efficient Test

& Tagging System

2013

Client

A1 Test and Tagging, Melbourne, Australia

Situation

Electrical appliances in the workplace, including extension leads, must be tested and tagged as safe as per Australian regulations. The existing test and tagging machines available are large, hard to carry (some even have a trolley), slow in data entry which limits the daily tests to around 200, and require data to be manually entered and manual reporting which adds 30-60mins at the end of each day. Which means the test and tagger operator typically ends their day at 3-4pm in order to get back to the office to generate the necessary reports.

Solution

DMCOM designed and built custom software and custom hardware (PIC microcontroller programmed with C18 language) that integrates existing technology and is now sold in Australia as the 'Clevermode' test and tagger and is the most compact and efficient system in the world.

The Clevermode software (written with Eclipse IDE and Java) uses a robust android tablet computer for easy and fast recording of test data and includes a barcode reader and printer to facilitate faster collection of data on return visits. The user interface is user friendly and has a multitude of time saving features. Data is saved to the tablet (or cloud) and reports can be generated on the spot and emailed automatically to the customer eliminating the need to spend time in the office at the end of the day generating and emailing reports.

Benefits of Clevermode and to A1 Test and Tagging

market to sell to franchisees and other customers

Increased testing capability from 200 items/day to 330 - 450/day

Time saving features mean an extra 1.5 hours of work time can be gained each day to conduct

more testing

Instant reporting and email notifications to the client

No need to spend hours in the office downloading data and generating reports

Barcode printer and reader to track assets and speed up the process of retrieving data on return

visits

Very compact, light and easy to carry
