Dive Plan Template A dive plan is required any dive excursion being run by Stevenage Sub-Aqua Club. This applies whether the dive is the weekly Arlesey dive or a week trip to the coast. The Dive plan may also include the Dive Authorisation form. Typically the aim of the Dive plan is: To show that adequate planning for the dive has taken place To ensure that all divers and supporters are aware of what is planned To identify the divers who will be taking part and their roles and qualifications To identify the scope of diving and the overall aim (which should match the skill of the divers) To provide general details of the site and surroundings so that anyone taking part is adequately prepared To show that emergencies have been considered and a plan is in place To show that a risk assessment has been conducted and risks are controlled To allow the Dive Officer to make a judgement on the suitability of the dives and those taking part. Currently, there is no specific format required. The Plan should be constructed to ensure that the above points at least are covered and recorded clearly. As an example, the following paragraph structure could be considered: Introduction and summary: Date, Site, Contact number of site, directions to site, meeting time and where, parking available?, any costs involved, any registration?, type (sea, shore, rib, hard), number of divers, number of supporters, maximum depth, Gas fills available? Quick overview of the site, what might be found on the dive, facilities etc. Objectives: Any specific objectives (training, search…) Divers; Names and Qualifications, buddy pairings planned; Dive Plans How many dives, how organised, basic plan for each dive (if different to overall objective), restrictions on time and depth and guide to expected stops (these must also be calculated by the individual diver based on their own detailed plan on the day), entry and exit points, planned start time and planned surface intervals. Any specific kit requirements. Lost buddy protocol to be used.
