PUrPoSe oF tHe CoNFereNCeThe purpose of the IWA Disinfection 2012 Specialist Conference is to provide a forum for scientists, consultant engineers, industrialists, equipment manufacturers, government regulatory agencies, and water and wastewater utility professionals from around the world. Themes will include controlling and minimizing the health impacts and risks of pathogens and byproducts generated by disinfection and inactivation processes.
This conference will allow professionals to examine the importance of pathogens in water and wastewater, sludge and excreta, to determine the formation of disinfection (re-action) byproducts, to review recent advances in legislation issues and to gather new insights into processes for future needs in disinfection and inactivation issues for developed and developing countries.
CoNFereNCe tHemeS/toPiCSThe conference program will include oral presentations and posters that cover a wide range of themes including, but not limited to, the following:
• Public health risks and issues related to disinfection and inactivation processes
• The surveying and monitoring of pathogens and disinfectants
• Basic and applied research in disinfection and inactivation technologies
• Disinfection by-products and precursors• Modeling, optimization and control of
disinfection and inactivation processes• Case studies of disinfection and inactivation
processes: opportunities, problems and solutions• Pathogen re-generation after disinfection• Discussion of the role of multiple barriers
in public health protection• Disinfection for water reuse• Legislation
CoNFereNCe VeNUe aND DateThe conference will be held on November 26-29 in Mexico City.
LaNgUageEnglish is the official language for presentations and discussion.
To be considered for platform or poster presentation, abstracts must be submitted in electronic form as a Word Document or as a pdf file. Abstracts must be written in English and are not to exceed two pages including tables and figures. You may submit more than one abstract. Please use either A4 or U.S. 8 ½ inch by 11 inch standard paper format. Abstracts should be submitted to Alma C. Chávez Mejia and Rosa María Ramírez at [email protected] and [email protected]
