International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a set of accounting standards, developed by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB, London) that is fast becoming the global standard for the preparation of public company financial statements.

Focus has been shifting from national to international standards, promoting the synchronization of accounting standards across the globe. The application of IFRS will lead to better financial comparisons and enhanced transparency in financial reporting.

Overall cost of financial reporting comes down for corporates operating in different parts of the globe.

Investors’ confidence goes up for an IFRS compliant financial statement, thereby, increasing the flow of capital, which will bring down the cost of capital particularly in countries like India where interest rates are still high.

Government has already notified the 35 new Indian Accounting Standards (IND AS) in order to adopt IFRS in the country, so IFRS is really at our doorsteps

Europe has already moved to IFRS for listed companies & consolidated accounts. Japan & Canada by 2011, USA anytime 2014-16

Currently, 120 countries have already adopted & the number will touch 150 by the end of 2012

IFRS implementation for Indian accounting professionals will be what Y2K was for the software professionals, in other words, huge earning potential

All questions will be compulsory

One compulsory 40 mark question covering group accounting adjustments, and

Three scenario questions of 20 mark covering a variety of accounting standards

Passing marks are 50%

400 exam centres across the globe

About ACCA, UK DipIFRS Exam

The exam can be taken twice a year i.e. every June & December

The exam centers are Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmadabad, Cochin and Chennai

The registration should be completed by 30th March for the June attempt and 30th September for the December attempt

Exam fees of £177 covers 1 attempt & you can retake for the same amount

Date for next exam worldwide is 11th December 2012

About ACCA, UK DipIFRS Exam

On completion of the Diploma candidates should be able to:

Understand and explain the international regulatory framework of financial reporting

Discuss and apply specified International Accounting Standards (IAS) and IFRSs to practical situations

Prepare financial statements in accordance with specified IASs, IFRSs & International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee (IFRIC) pronouncements

Prepare group financial statements including subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures

Objective of the course

Study material for Diploma in IFRS from a Gold Approved publisher of learning material by ACCA (U.K) to be bought separately

Participants can attend either the live-session being conducted or/and attend the same at their convenience in a deferred-live mode

Participants will have access to these archived sessions for all the classes for a period of one year from the date of commencement

Participants will also get the class presentations for all the classes

Participants just need to have a broadband internet connection with atleast 512 Kbps bandwidth
