This module will be used in the Northeastern Illinois region, chiefly in Chicago. Spokesperson and media contact for both the Board of Ethics and Human Rights. Worked with personnel from the Cook County Human Resources and the Cook County Inspector General to create a new online ethics training module for more than 3000 employees. Coordinated dissemination of advice to all County employees regarding ethical restrictions on political activity during the State primary and general election seasons. Managed website maintenance and updates for Ethics and Human Rights.

GRANTS COORDINATOR 2011 TO 2013Cook County Justice Advisory Council, Office of the Cook County Board President - Chicago, Illinois

Oversaw development, disbursements and monitoring of U.S. Department of Justice grants to 38 municipalities, Cook County States Attorney, Office of the Chief Judge of Cook County and the Cook County Sheriff as well as to various community organizations providing direct services. Grants funded law enforcement, violence prevention and recidivism reduction. Also managed Adult Redeploy Illinois grant for Cook County partners in criminal justice and awarded County recidivism reduction grants. .

DISTRICT MANAGER 2010 TO 2011Cook County Commissioner Jesus Garcia (7th District) - Chicago, Illinois

Organized and staffed district office from its inception. Conducted outreach to community stakeholders and managed constituent services for the district’s communities: Pilsen, Little Village, McKinley Park, Brighton Park, Archer Heights, Gage Park, Chicago Lawn, Marquette Park and Cicero.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 2005 TO 2009Telpochcalli Community Education Project (TCEP) - Chicago, Illinois

Led community-based organization founded in 2002 by parents, community residents and teachers in the Marshall Square neighborhood of Little Village. TCEP now serves over 300 families from five neighboring school communities, providing resident-directed adult learning and leadership training. TCEP also has a youth-led project, Ollin, that has held four successful forums on youth empowerment.

Led Cross City Campaign’s urban school reform advocacy efforts in Chicago. Served as liaison to school reform organizations as well as community-based-organizations, the Chicago Public Schools and Chicago Teachers Union. Provided technical assistance and training regarding district and school budgets to community-based-organizations and local school councils. Staffed consortium that developed the statewide legislative framework for the GROW YOUR OWN teacher training and development program in Illinois.
